What power amp would sound like the power section of a 101B?

Just when I was about to give up on my Fish, I got my 101B back from Bogner, all happy and retubed,
and tried the fish through it.

I thought the Fish was a bit harsh in the 100B, but it sounded absolutely awesome through the 101B,
a lot better IMHO than the 101B head, and maybe even better than the 100B.

What power amp today would have the closest sound the 101B's power section so I can make a fish rack?

IIRC, the 101b power section is nearly identical to a 2203 JCM800.

Does that imply that the Marshall 9005 is perhaps the closest power amp you can get?

I'm not too familiar with Marshall amps, but if the 9005 is similar to the 2203, then I'd imagine so.

The Marshall 9005 had Drake transformers (similar to the JCM 800 2203), but I don't believe the newer Marshall 50/50's (or 9100's, for that matter) do.

Mesa's have a different circuit than Marshalls, so they're a bit of a different animal. However, FWIW, Jerry Cantrell is now using the Mesa 2:90 with his Fish.

Advice - get a cheap unit that sounds OK for now.............. and then wait until Bogner releases their rack mountable power amp. Because THAT will be the god tone!
