What size fret wire on EBMM Axis guitars??

I don't know for sure, but I believe they are close to a 6150.
I think Brad used to have one that was refretted with 6100's, so he might know.
I have also heard people have had their Axis refretted by EBMM for in the $150 range, which seems very reasonable.

I think it's 6150, too, but I'd just send the guitar to Ernie Ball and have them do it for me.

Hell yeah, especially for $120...

I actually meant to type 6105, but dougie's post threw me off.

Yeah send it EBMM. They told me their frets are custom tailored for their guitars. They do a very good job and it's cheap. I'd just send it to them.

The reason I thought they were 6150's is that the Peavey Wolfgang's had 6105's.
They just didn't feel the same to me.
Ernie Ball won't disclose exactly what's on the Axis, so I don't know.

I called Ernie Ball a while back and they wanted $250 plus I had to pay shipping one way (Ohio to California)

I want stainless frets but they won't do it there :( I'll probably end up sending it out there after I do a few side jobs for some extra cash, although I'd really like some stainless frets

How long ago was that? They told me $120 just a few months ago...

It was a couple months back when I called. I could handle $120, but $300??...I can't afford that :(

I'm gonna call again tomorrow

You know, now that I think about it, it was $250 to send my whole guitar and they would do the frets and a setup. Are you talking about just sending the neck itself??

MIchael Tuttle @ Best Frets is a highly recommend luthier who does lots of stainless frets, if you're interested in that.

Maybe they realized that it was too good a deal and raised the price.

Shit...call up Tuttle and get the stainless steel frets you want for $250+shipping and never have to worry about it again. I believe that's still his asking price for ss frets & setup.

I sent him an email and he emailed back with the price for a re-fret with stainless frets....$400 :(

I also called MusicMan back and they are $240 now :(

Wow...he must have raised his prices too....damn economy. My friend had two of his guitars refretted by Tuttle early last year at $250 a pop.

Buy a few POS pawnshop beaters to learn on first, don't make a nice guitar your first refret job. Other thing I'd advise is get a fret bender and the cauls so you can use a drill press to push them in instead of hammering. Just gives more control.

Yeah, I've been thinking about giving it a shot on my old Kramer Focus. It needs it anyway. But I have zero fretting tools at the moment. Thanks for the tips!
