What strings are you using?

Using Ernie Ball Slinkies, but going to change back to Dean Markley Blue Steels.

What do you find different between them? I use the Cobalts, but have never been able to compare them to the regular EBs in real time.

The Colbalts have this almost already broke in quality to them right out of the pack. They don't seem as slippery. The regular EB's are very slippery to me up on the higher strings and frets. Also the Cobalt's seem to stay fresher longer than the regular EB's.

Yup, using Cobalts here as well. 11-48 on Gibson scale and 10-46 on Fender scale. Best strings I've ever used. Very consistent quality from pack to pack. ( this has been an issue for me with other brands of strings )
Versus the regular EB of the same gauge, they don't feel as "Slinky" or greasy, but are a bit brighter and definitely produce more signal than regular EB's. And they last forever. Expensive, but worth it IMO.
The alloy with the extra Cobalt really does produce a hotter signal as it moves through the magnetic field of the pickups. It ain't snake oil, but the downside is Cobalt costs $$. At least you get the extended string life from the corrosion resistance the Cobalt gives you.

Custom Balanced gauges are the way to go, so awesome.
I used to use Kalium, but I had trouble storing bulk they way they are packaged. I switched to StringJoy and really dig them.
I spend like 2 hours on a string calculator figuring out my tunings before I order lol.
 
I've been using Elixirs 10's for about 5 years. Just feels right to me.
 
EB 10-42 or 10-56. Wanting to try something new though. No complaints with the slinkys, just lots of options out there that I haven't tried.
 
Slinkies out of habit, but honestly string brands mean absolutely nothing to me. They are strings.

I use the gauge that fits my hands and preferences best, no tone mojo in heavier gauges that make me work harder.
 
GHS Boomers 10-46 on all guitars tuned to E and Eb. Same since the mid 80's.
 
Nanowebs for me ...haven't tried the optiwebs yet but would like to.

EB Slinky Regular on my normal tuning/half-step down guitars
EB Slinky Beefy for my drop tuned and 7 string/ERG guitars

Elixir for tropical climes.
EBs or D'Addario for Canadian climate.
 
I've been using Cobalts exclusively for a couple of years, now. I love them. Definitely a different sound and feel, for the better, IMO. I like the 10-52s for standard tuning, and I buy custom gauges from EB for drop B with my band.
 
I recently tried the M-steels and prefer them to the feel of the Cobalts. Bright and punchy strings.
