I don’t know how I didn’t notice until now. I got box of mutt Charvel parts I got with USA neck a few months ago. I literal slapped it together and it’s been my go to for months. Is just plays phenomenally. I just noticed there’s no visible ends, at least the part that goes into the wood. I’m confused.

I was just chatting with someone he said if they going to do heavy rolling, the cut the kerf short so that it’s easier to work the wood. This neck is heavily rolled, not the standard medium
Interesting… both of my nitro aged Charvel’s are rolled and you can see the fret ends on both.

Quick note about StewMac.
Any tool you find on their site check Amazon first before buying.

They often have the same exact thing from an OEM for a lot less.

Those tang snippers are the key. Very useful tool to have if your into fretting.

The fret tangs have been cut and the slots filled. I build all my necks this way. I don't know why all necks aren't done this way, especially on high end guitars. It completely eliminates any chance of fret sprout.

Pretty much what everyone has said, clip the ends of the tang off then fill the fret slots. The other option is to install them on a bound fretboard. If it's bound with wood then the transition from fretboard to binding can look almost seamless as in TheRealDonnie's post #8 above.

Here's a video on a few ways to clip the tangs.
