Surprised no CAE 404's and Cantrell's. I thought those were the beez neez

They're both great. I prefer the Tremonti live. It cuts through a mix, has a huge sweep whereas some wahs just "quack" on and off, the Tremonti just keeps opening up and is very vocal. Also, I'm totally spoiled by the switch-less design. In the studio I'd probably use the CAE.

I have had a ton of wahs from most builders. I settled on two, the original Dunlop rack for pure tone and the one I use the most is the Vox Satch wah. It is basically 98% of the Dunlop's tone in a more continent package. Even though I don't gig, I don't really even bother with the rack, because the vox can do almost everything and just sit in such a great little pedal. As soon as I got it I sold my Fulltone, which I loved. I still have a chrome 535Q that I have modded somewhere, which is a close 3rd but will probably never get used again.

Castledine Standard wah.

I don't know why, i think it sounds great!

Dunlop 2SR Rack. If I Get tired of a tone I can tweak, boost, change Q, etc. No tone lose from guitar into wah and wah out to where ever.

CAE for me. Had a 1SR rack wah that was great, but the CAE wah kicked it out. The boost is much better. I think it has more sweep, too, and just sounds great.

Don't even have a wah but, thinking about an AMT Japanese. Heard they are pretty nice and the really small foot print appeals to me.

i have a Castledine circuit board in an old Vox shell, and an Area 51 (mentioned up-thread) board in another wah, with vintage-style ICAR taper pots. both sound quite good; with a 'more dry' vintage sort of quack than the modern ones.

RMC, Teese, and Fulltone seem to get all the notice in the vintage wah market, but Castledine and Area 51 are definitely worth checking out if you're looking for that sorta thing.

535Q and an original Crybaby thats been modded. Would love to try the Cantrell!

Dunlop 95Q. Switchless, classic Dunlop sound with a boost and and Q control to boot. Plus it's not as huge as a Morley Pro Wah, which I did like the sound of.
