Damn, we all had MIM Strats!

Mine was:

Fender MiM Strat
Fender amp (I think it was 25watts or something like that)

In the summer of 84, I bought my first guitar. It was an Arbor flying v. For Xmas that year my parents bought me a Marshal Lead 12.
I have both to this day. The guitar is not worth playing, but the amp still works and use it occasionally. The two are 27 years old this past August.

Sounds like you and I come from a similar era. I owned a Gorilla before my Lead 12, but I got a Lead 12 for my HS graduation present back in '86 and I've always considered that my first "real" amp. In fact, though I sold it years later, I picked one up for $75 last year and have been using it for practice ever since. I run an OCD into it with low gain and high volume, and I wired a 1/4" output jack to it and run it into my Marshall 1960B cab. It sounds awesome to this day! Sits right next to my XTC and gets more play time than the Bogner. Not saying it's a better built/sounding amp. But it sounds good enough that I "save" the XTC for gigs and special days when I'm feeling like plugging into the big guns. The Lead 12 also gets used more than my VHT Ultra Lead and Eleven Rack. Hard to believe that the little solid state amp still sounds great after all these years and new technologies...

My first guitar was a Pan Alembic strat. Back in '84. I still have the neck and pickguard. i wish I still had the body. Just for the memories. I played the hell out of that guitar all through the second half of the 80s. Thousands of hours...

Fender Princeton Chorus 2x10 combo and an Ibanez ex series guitar...around 1989-1990

A 1974 Les Paul Custom bought in 1988 for $450, and a Peavey Bandit 75. Kinda miss that simple setup sometimes... Really miss that guitar!

hmm, I had a "Magnum" student size strat with knock off bigsby trem and a P.O.S. "Tronix" combo amp. garbage.

no name randy rhoades copy darrell sold me outta his closet for beer money. made a fake jackson logo for the the headstock that said "JACKIN'". ran it though a gorilla amp (the one that could run off the d/c jack and plug into the lighter on a car). eventually we made home-made 2x12 cabs and ran the gorilla's though a p/a head to power the cabs. total tweaker rig. oh, the power of kids on chemicals.

Wow. Don't remember exactly.

I do remember and early Arbor Stratocaster style guitar and a 1x12 solid state combo. I loved it.

I also played into a reel to reel into a power amp into some stereo speakers for a while! Boosted the preamp level for distortion and somehow I was able to make it delay. KILLER rig!

I got a peavey Studio Pro 40 amp and a Peavey T-60 guitar in a trade with one of my dad's business partners for a bunch of baseball cards back in middle school. I imagine I got the raw end of that deal, considering some of the cards I had are probably worth a lot more than the long-gone guitar and amp. I used that setup for a long time though, with a Zoom player 2020 effects unit.

In 2000, My First Rig was a BC Rich Bronze Series Warlock with the matching 10 watt amp and a DOD Death Metal Distortion pedal hahahaha. I wanted to be Mick Thompson sooo bad back then lol. I also had my moms first electric which was a Zimm Garr strat copy and an Applause Acoustic from back in the 70's. I still have the Zimm Garr and the Applause. The Applause still gets played too it sounds awesome!!!

Crate combo and Hondo Les Paul copy. Pure crap 1979?

MrHiwatt

Me too.We must have shopped at the same music store. Did your Crate have the wood grain?

BC Rich Warlock guitar and some crappy Peavey 112 combo amp.

LTD EX-260
Line6 Spider II 30W

Still have the guitar and play it regularly.

My first "rig" was an Epiphone PeeWee LP into an older Peavey Rage 108 (age 4  ). From there I progressed into owning several mid level guitars and solid state and smaller tube combos. My first truly good rig was acquired just after I turned 14. I had a USA Parker Fly Deluxe into a Mesa Boogie Mark III head and a Basson Sound B212 cab loaded with Eminence Legends with a few select pedals (Wylde Wah, ISP Decimator, later on I got an MXR Carbon Copy for the loop).

W.

A shitty Sears Les Paul copy and a shittier Sears little combo. My first real guitar was a Time SG8 (I still have) and my first halfway decent amp was a marshall 50 watt split reverb ss 2x12 combo.

A 1979 bullet strat in natural ash (with floyd rose)and a fender bassman 70 head on a marshall 4x12. I would hit the front of the amp with a original big muff. That was my first real rig the strat was stolen years later and sold the rest.

My very first guitar was a les paul copy out of the unity catalog,it was called a seville and a fender champ that still is at my parents house.

I do miss that bassman head and strat.

'88 Ibanez RG550 black and a Peavey Bandit 65

First real tube amp Mesa Mk III :D

that was 1991, I'm gonna spare you all the gear whoring that followed afterwards :D

First rig was hand-me-downs...a Peavey Audition 20 amp and 1969 Raven Tele Thinline with Gibson humbuckers.

My first own rig came shortly after...basically the same Fender MIM Strat as the OP in that cool blond-vintage-green color, and a Fender Ultimate Chorus amp. Surprisingly I still have all that stuff. I'm actually about to buy a new neck for the Strat and do an HH setup. I absolutely love the color of that Strat and want to revive it!

After that I switched to a Gibson Les Paul and 5150. And now, well, there's just too much lol
