What's a good delay in front of the amp? UPDATE

I need a good delay to go in the front of an amp. Yea, yea, I know time based fx go best in the loop but I want to go out front. Whatcha got?

Oh yea, I'm not looking to break the bank either.
 
I used an old Boss DD3 like this for quite a few years and thought it sounded pretty good.
 
I've got a Flashback and a Carbon Copy now. The CC sounds like the better of the two but I was hoping to do better still.

I had one of those and got rid of it. It was a great delay but was just more than I needed. Sadly I never tried it out front. :doh:
 
A used Fulltone TTE can be had for $650.00 USD.
 
I have a trex replica and it seems to work good in front.
You could look for a used one.
 
I use a Zoom G3 for this, and also a bunch of other stomp boxes and tuner are included!! Works great, and I also have tap tempo...
 
Digital delay. For leads & sustain I use an analog delay in the loop, just because it's a more subtle effect. For atmospheric, rhythm-based guitar I'll use a digital delay out front. Aint nothing wrong with that.
I'd go with the DD3 aswell.
 
I have been having moderate success with a DD-20 in tape mode. It works better in the loop, but isnt terrible out front
 
From previous threads I thought the consensus was always the Carbon Copy followed by the DD3 or 5.
 
Ibanez DE-7 works alright too! Love this delay.. I think i use it more than my flashback though the flashback has some really cool delays.

Although I haven't tried the pedal myself, I have heard that the Mad Professor Deep Blue Delay is one of the best delays that can be put in front of an amp.
