What's a good floor pedal noise gate?

ns-2 in front. isp decimator in the loop of any amp without a built in gate.

note....the gate on the fbm needs to be in every amp ever built from now on. far and away the best gate for metal i have ever used. i did the big rack thing in the 90's with all high end comps/limit/gates crap. (already spent enough time in studio in the 80's to have a clue) tried them all every way you can think of. right now, the feel i get from the fbm gate is almost like it's ahead of the ns-2 in the signal chain. almost a push/pull from the ns-2 to the fbm gate and back. i know that sounds crazy, but it's the wildest thing....on the quietest amp ever.

I'm actually the opposite, ISP in front and NS-2 in loop (of noisier amps only)
The best gate I've ever used is the onboard one in my 2203KK. Marshall should market that gate in pedal form. It would give ISP a run for their money IMO.

MXR Smart Gate is my choice!
+ me too. It was a godsend at some noisey gigs, esp with single coil pickups.

Love the ISP Decimator. it does affect the tone when when the gate closes, but the amount of tone suck is minimal.
I have 2 on my pedalboard, one for each amp when I'm running 2 amps.

rocktron reaction hush
costs half of the isp and works just as well
for the price of the decimator, you could have a rocktron guitar silencer, which includes the hush reduction AND the guitar silencer gate AND a loop

What am I seeing in your sig?

ISP Decimator G-String, or MXR Smartgate. Smartgate, if your cheap like me.

I have a few songs in my band's set where I do some starting and stopping, I just need to be able to engage it on the tunes so I can sing through those sections without having to try and grab my volume knob.

Easiest way I found when singing is to ride a volume pedal. Just keep your foot there when at the mic and you don't have to look or hit a button. ;)

Just got the Decimator, put on pedalboard, 10 seconds to adjust knob, perfection! I actually love the way it sounds when it clamps down, makes things sound heavy.

Tried a bunch...ISP Decimator: seamless, transparent, no tone color

+1 for the NS-2. While probably not as sexy as the ISP, I have had nothing but good luck with my NS-2.

I went back to the NS-2 after reading all the Decimator hype back in the mid 2000's. It's a good unit but I also like other models as well and could use pretty much any of them.

I agree with an earlier comment about many of these types of units behaving similarly. The differences tend to be embellished/exaggerated on forums just imo.
