Hey everybody,

I'm selling my Jcm2000 as it is too heavy for me to carry around. I'm looking for a small tube amp to replace it but I don't even know where to start.

I really like classic stuff (Floyd, The Who, Eagles), but I also play a lot of metal with my friends (PANTERA, Mastadon).

Any suggestions for a good amp that can handle a variety of different sounds?

That isn't heavy? Not really sure, other than carvin.

a lot of the mesa amps are pretty light. I remember the I loved carrying my f50 head around. That was a very light amp. Peavey classic 30 head is very light as well. Orange dual terror if you need two channels. The tiny terror was very light I can't imagine the the dual terror weighs that much more. the last two amps you would need a boost to get into metal.

blackstar HT-5 sounds great boosted.

could check out a mix modeling/tube amplifier?

My splawn is a fuckin tank. Transformer weight. Are you looking for head or combo?

THAT is a GOOD question for the OP to answer, so that he can get recommendations that prove more likely relevant-- than NOT.

I'm looking for either a 1x12 or 2x12 combo.

Was your JCM a head or combo? Most 212 combos are going to be damn heavy, much more so than a head.
But check out ebay for a Boogie Mark IV 1x12 combo as I said above

They're still a bit heavy, but that just comes with the territory if you want great tube tone

my 1x12 combo weighed more than my jmp 100watt...

Go to the gym, the amp will become lighter. I'm half-serious here, but it helps.

+1 with Andy, Einstein is great.

well, for versatility i'd get an amp that sounds good clean and takes pedals well, then use pedals. fender hot rods are fantastic pedal platforms and affordable. a speaker swap improves the amp 1000%. of course, you could step up to the blackface reissues. get one with the appropriate wattage for your use. all imho

My 1x12 combo weighs 75 lbs... I'm still wondering what is "TOO heavy" for the OP.
