I picture a bumble bee flying around with an ice pick when I hear them. Not my favorite Marshall.
:D

i have a weird analogy for amps. a good one is like buying a brand new industrial size can of deodorant with a big comfortable nozzle. gently press the button and you have a firehose of sustained fulfillment and an abundant aftercloud of aromatic glory.

and a bad one is like trying to eek out the last dribbles from an empty can with a scrawny nozzle that keeps falling off. shake and twist and press as hard as you like, all you get is an anemic squirt of dissatisfaction and a sore finger.

I saw Bonamassa last year and I was in good position to see his entire rig..not a DSL in sight. If he uses them now at all I'd bet just like MANY others will gig out with the cheaper and easier to replace amp-DSL. I'd almost guarantee he doesn't record with them. They do sound good...but a Jubilee is miles above DSL tone. Too many pros on RT and elsewhere swear by them and I agree. To each their own though...

No, they weren't in sight...they were behind the wall of amps that you saw (most likely a Trainwreck, Dirty Shirley, and a couple of old Plexis). I was fortunate enough to hang out back stage prior to a gig last year...it's an indisputable fact that he used DSLs with a tube screamer on that tour.

Yes, look for the rig rundown on premier guitar 2013 and the DSL are not visible. They run the dsl on the clean channel full volume with a TS9 for distortion.

I've got a Slash sig that I left back in the US when I moved to the UK last year. Being more of a metal player in my youth I never really got into it. As I'm getting older I find myself missing that amp though. Like others said, there's something to that mid range tone that just sticks out.

Os there a difference between the Silver 2555 and the black 2555? Whats the deal with that?

Yep! He told me himself that the DSL was his favorite amp.

The Silver tolex '87s had a few circuit revisions but are still more collectible. If you have a serial number above 3000 you have the latest revision that lasted through '89. In 88 and 89 Marshall called them "JCM 800 Custom Series" but they were still Jubilees in black tolex. The black ones are less expensive and sound the same..better deals on the used market.
