Nate, isn't 46 and 2 in standard?

No sir, in fact I'm pretty sure like 99% of tool is in drop d, the other 1% is in some crazy tuning like BADgbe or BEDgbe (Prison Sex, Parabol/Parabola)
Cool. I knew most of their stuff is dropped, but for some reason I thought that one was standard. I'd say 90% of what I write is dropped too. Lots of cool chords you can play besides the usual root/5th

Yeah you can do some cool stuff with it. At my old house (much bigger) I had the whole band setup in the basement with a couple monster rigs and me and my buddies would sit around during the summer and drink beer and play random stuff. For times like those I almost always would play in drop d because it just seemed, for me, it was easier to get into a groove and come up with stuff, like for some reason the creativity would just flow better, I dunno. My comfort zone I guess

Killing in the name of... luv the whammy pedal parts...kinda makes it seem like your a better player
Slither

Most anything King's X, but I think Lost in Germany takes the cake for me. Love that riff.

A slightly different approach:

Malted Milk - Robert Johnson
&
Dear Prudence - (I didn't realize it was in Dropped D until I read it here!)

Growing on Me - The Darkness

Vampires - Godsmack

All Nightmare Long - Metallica

right now LOG broken hands! rips
actually I think its drop c# close enough..

Any of the Drop D tuned songs on Moontower by Dan Swano. Opeth has alot of great ones as well.

Helmet - Milquetoast

Prong - Whose Fist It It Anyway (Drop C, same idea though)

RATM - Killing In The Name Of

Cult - She Sells Sanctuary (or maybe just in D)

For me Helmet really established drop D as a force in contemporary heavy music when Meantime came out.
