I've been using V-Picks Medium Round (I can't play worth a shit with a pointed pick) for the last several years, so I voted Acrylic.

By the way I only use bright colored picks on stage. If I drop a pic like yours on a dark stage, it's gone.
Yellow, bright green, red.

I'll use the yellow Tortex for acoustic and bass live.

Oh, and if anyone tells you pick selection/composition doesn't affect your tone, they're nuts.

Yellow, bright green, red....

It ain't no picnic trying to find them on the floor of my man cave either. :D

BTW, they come in colored versions as well.

Went from being a Tortex user for like 10 years to Ultex which I still use from time to time..... But for a couple of years now I've been playing the Primetone .83's. Absolutely love the Primetones.

Been using Tortex green or purple forever. The pick seems to rotate between my fingers and have to eventually regrip it when playing fast lead stuff so recently switched to Dunlop max grip 1.14 which I like.

Celluloid for me. I just like the way it sounds. But I'm faster with other picks.
I use red Jazz IIIs but I too like the way Celluloid sounds. I haven't found a Jazz III sized Celluloid pick but I'd like to try one.

That would be a neat pick. The Jazz III was the one I was thinking of when I said I was faster with non-celluloid picks. Would love to try that combination.

Pickboy makes them. I have a few.

They also make this ceramic / nylon pick that is by far the most aggressive sounding pick I have ever heard.

I've been using the green tortex for a long time, but this thread caused me to order a few of the Black Fang 94's. We shall see.

THE custom gauge! wouldn't exist if JH didn't ask for it.

I feel like they'd be my jam, i alternate between .9 and 1.0

they definitely have some different picks.

aforementioned reefer pick (still sour about the name, and wonder about the stock guy's tendencies when the last two were available  )

Cool, thanks Stephen. Just ordered 10 of the white heavies to try. Look for several bags of red Jazz IIIs in the classifieds. Some are even NOS.

I'm looking for as many different kinds of Jazz III style picks as I can find these days. The heavier the better usually. I find I prefer the tone of thicker pointed plectrums.

I find the heavier picks have a thicker sound. The more pointed the tip is the brighter the tone is.

Interesting how much you can change the sound by using different picks.

I have some 100% pure titanium picks that produce unreal amount of harmonics. They sound like a bell. Unfortunately they eat up strings in minutes. I have others that are not 100% and they sound very different. Cooper is the next best for the bell sound I have found.

Jazz III Tortex 1.5mm is probably my favorite sound at this point. Great attack, definition and tone.
