Seymour Duncan '59's are great in a Les Paul. So is the JB/Jazz combo.
JB/Jazz combo SLAYS in my custom LP build.

I'm a fan of the stock '57 and '57 Classics in some Lesters.

Otherwise - a calibrated triumvirate of Emeralds in my 3 pup 57 Black Beauty, Black Dogs in my '68 Firemist Custom, Mules 57 GoldTop, Riff Raffs '59, can't remember the rest but I've got a few more Lesters....with a few more BKPs.

I never played better than OX4 when I went through a bunch. Unpotted and there was no feedback. Handles gain with great clarity. Much more than the Bare Knuckles and much more alive sounding. I like BK's but the OX4 were something else.

after a couple dozen pickups, been happy with a bare knuckle riff raff/mule set for years in my 73 les paul custom

holy diver/emerald in my lp-based short hydra

Let's revive this one. I have a lemonburst LP Classic 120th Anniv. model with the stock 57 Classics. I want to replace them, but really want double cremes. I already have a Wolfetone Marshallhead bridge pup in double creme. AFAIK, the only other manufacturer who makes them in double creme is DiMarzio. Would a 36th Anniv. work in the neck with a Marshallhead in the bridge? Or do I need to just spring for the Wolfetone Dr. Vintage or Legend in double creme?
I've had Dimarzio 36th Anniversary and PAF Master sets in a couple of LPs and I really like them. They both sound great in the neck and bridge, though I think I prefer the slightly higher output 36th.

Haven't tried Wolfetones yet. Right now I'm so happy with the Custom Buckers and Alnico II Pros I have in my LPs that I stopped looking.

In my '73 goldtop Deluxe (routed for humbuckers), I have settled on the SD Pearly Gates in the neck and a Custom Custom for the bridge. I tried the A2, A5, and A8 magnets in the bridge pickup, and came back to the A2 for good. For that guitar, the search is over.

SD Custom Shop Pearly Gates (aka Bill Gibbons Custom Shop) are sublime.

Tom Anderson H3 and H1

I have this in my Anderson Bulldog and I LOVE them!! I have another Bulldog coming my way and thinking about putting the same combo in it but I am really intrigued by the Suhr Thornbucker set. We shall see!

They really are great.
Especially the H3. Real beefy/thick sounding pickup.
I dropped them in a Les Paul Custom.

It's crazy because the h3 and h1 have such a big difference in output but sound great together.

Heard great things about Suhr pickups as well.
Anything Tom Anderson and Suhr put out are top quality stuff.
Can't go wrong.
