I have the Mako now and I dig it,something is missing though.
And I have an ADA MP-1,and a Mesa quad, but I think the triaxis I had was probably the best sounding,I regret selling it but WTF can't cry now,it happens when you THINK you can find something better.

You've got the Mak4 and "something's missing".....???? I'm all ears man, this sounds VERY odd to me - from all the props I've heard about this roll out, I can't imagine what on earth it'd be "missing"

Peace,
V.

Yeah, I'd like to hear too. One of the other guys that has one says it's a little light on the bass side of things (at least with his Carvin PA without a resonance control). I don't have mine yet, but I would imagine a beefy power amp would really let it shine. Or maybe it's just missing something tone wise for him. I'd like to hear though.

IMO:

X88
CAE 3+
Fish
CAE3+ SE

Never got to try the Matchless for cleans, would like to hear that one day.

Just noticed this "Coming soon: Friedman custom rack amps"

Anything you can tell us ? .... or am I asking the wrong person?

They are in the works, but nothing too soon. Inundated with Friedman/Naked orders, and getting ready for the amp show right now. Lots of ideas being tossed around.

I can't put my finger on it exactly,I like the way it sounds,I didn't say it sounded bad. But I think it needs a little more beef to it. What ever pros your talking about could have been playing brighter amps, like Marshalls etc. Or it could be my power amp,"Mesa 295" I wouldn't call that a made for metal power amp but it works fine, and I don't like boosting or putting an EQ in front or back of it,I like straight signal,no FX no nothing.
I will say however it's tight, punchy, great rock tone.
For the money the mako is well worth it and then some.

I'd say your power amp qualifies as "beefy". I like to plug straight in myself. I don't want to add any kind of eq or boost. I guess I'll just have to wait (should be less than 2 weeks) and see.

no rack favorites, but i do prefer egnater renegades for their clean channel. very inspiring and excellent tone controls.

for lead, thats still to be discovered.

Langer, Demeter, Fish

I'd kill to have one of each of these. Completely different tones

demeter? thats a new one on me

I once heard a Harry Kolbe preamp, sounded good and gritty, not much to them but a few knobs and a high dollar price tag. Even the Japanese Soldano preamp is decent, and if you want more gain Mike will tune it up for you.
