Well if you are bringing your western ideals into Russia via protestant christianity you will not be warmly greeted. To the orthodox mind all protestant faiths and Roman Catholicism are heresies. There are actually heretical orthodox sects as well. As @acceptance said, Putin is orthodox. He has POURED state resources into rebuilding what the soviets destroyed. Outwardly he is easily the most christian national leader that I can think of off the top of my head. Do I think he's a saint? No.
