can you honestly say with a straight face, that either of those guys need money? How many Presidents were already billionaires before they ever held office? How many left office with a net worth less than when they entered office? Elon is already the richest man on the books. It would be a job to even try and spend all his money in a lifetime. He owned Paypal, he doesn't need SS numbers. I wouldn't have thought his crazy companies would even make money, ie. space exploration, sub terranean drilling, human implant chips, etc., but here we are.

I always hear that argument about how rich Elon is and how he doesn't need the money? Seriously? With rich people that's all they think about...is how to make even more money and also to have more power. The more money you have, the more leverage and power you have as a whole.

You gotta look at his history. He was prepared to blow at least half his wealth back in the day just to raise hype for Mars in order to encourage the gubment's increasing NASA's funding 'cause he'd dreamed for a long time about our colonising the planet as a survival-insurance policy.
Heck, he doesn't even believe in patents except in cases where R&D money needs to be recouped first before making IP public-domain. He says, "Patents are for pussies".
It's obvious the guy's driven by passion. A definite outlier in the realm of billionaires.
That's not to say that I disagree with your statement; I reckon it'd apply in 99%+ of cases.
