Hi, I'm currently using a Custom Audio OD-100+ (on its way) through a 4x12 Mesa traditional recto cab. However, the 4x12 has been increasingly impractical to keep, so I'm selling it.

I may be trying/buying various other amps in the near future, so ideally, I need a cab that's suitable for them all. Said amps include: Diezel VH4, Bogner Ecstasy 100B, maybe a few others like Elmwood Modena, ENGL SE, I dunno.

Possible cabs I'm looking into:

2x12 Mesa recto cab
1x12 Mesa Thiele + Electrovoice EVM12L speaker
2x12 Earcandy Buzzbomb
2x12 Genz Benz G Flex
2x12 ...ENGL, Diezel, Bogner, Custom Audio, VHT, etc etc etc

I know that Mesa cabs are reliable and not too expensive, but there are countless other great cabs out there. For some reason, loyal Diezel fans think that only Diezel cabs can handle the low-end frequency response of a Diezel amp, so... Bogner claims to build spectacular cabs as well. Everybody loves Custom Audio, VHT, etc.

So basically, what I'm saying is, I'm open to suggestions.
Let's hear 'em! :)

(Oh, and just in case, I'm using a PRS Custom 24 for now.)

Everyone predictably will tell you to go with an OS Bogner 2x12", or a Diezel. Those are both great cabs but there are a lot of other options as well. I love my Orange, the Mills Acoustics are sick, Port City's are supposed to be great. The new Cameron cabs look great and aren't that expensive.

There are a lot of choices.

This probably didn't help, but if I had to pick myself, I might give one of the Mills Acoustics a try, they look great and are comparably priced to a Bogner/Diezel.

Whatever you get, make sure it is all wood construction. I am amazed at how much of a difference a wood box makes over particle board or plywood.

A man with ambition. :D

I think Bogner and Diezel cabs used to be made by the same company, that might even make the CAE cabs (I'm just passing on what I read on the internet, so...).

The ENGL cabs aren't bad, but I think it's not as meaningful to buy them in the US as opposed to a Mesa cab for instance. I think they are rather similar. Some Americans insist on buying an ENGL cab because it sounds more boutique, while Europeans then try to buy a Mesa cab instead of the easy to get ENGL for the same reason. ;)

I've never played or heard a VHT cab live as far as I remember, but they seem to have something special that people either love or hate.

If you like the Mesa Recto/Orange style build, then I suggest you save an assload of money and get a Lopoline Signature cab.

In my case, the Lopo Sig has stayed while the VHT, Avatar, G-Flex, and Splawn cabs have gone.

Bogner FTW.

I owned a Bogner 2x12. I have a Port City 2x12 now which i like better.

Yeah, but you also like the Yankees. :D

I tried to list all the Yankees World Series wins in my sig but i couldn't fit them all.

I have a G-Flex with Hellatone 30/60 mix and a Splawn OS with V30s. Both sound really good with my Blackmore, but completely different. My G-Flex is much louder and in your face. The Splawn is more balanced.

I would like to try a Bogner 2x12 with V30's.

The Genz Benz G-flex is my choice. I have one and love it and I tried the Bogner first for almost 8 months but the G-flex just sounds so much more ballsy to me with a much better bottom end and It also cleans up very well. The G-flex is a much more flexible cab IMO.

Simply I like it enough that I am selling my vintage Randall cabs that I have had for almost 20 years to get another G-flex.

I don't know, I have a couple older Avatar 2x12s with a wheat grille and V30s, and I think they sound awesome. The newer Avatars seem to be modeled after some of the higher-end cabs, though, so you might check them out. They were good quality, the company was great to deal with, and the cabs were reasonably priced.

I've heard alot of good things about the oversize Bogner 212 cab
but haven't actually tried one.......I have a MESA 212 right now
with my Egnater TOL100 head and it handles the Density setting
even if it's run up quite high(which I don't normally do).........
