Which amp was your most disappointing purchase?

Peavey 5150. Probably a nice amp and all but I just didn't like the tones as much as I wanted to and quality-wise it just didn't hold a candle to the Triple Recto that replaced it.

Bogner 101B and Soldano Decatone were my two biggest disappointments.

I have been really lucky in that I have liked every amp I have ever owned except my old fender dual shownman half stack. But in it's defense it was my first real amp and not that great. I have played a bunch though that sound amazing with someone else playing them but with me not so much.

The LINE 6 Flextone II was a nightmare for me and anyone who has known me since the Harmony Central days around 2001-2002 probably remembers my rants about that amp. They were legendary!! I had two break on me and had nothing but problems.

The LANEY Iommi amp was a letdown for me because unfortunately I didn't own a football stadium or abandoned mine to play it in. I still have ringing in my ears from when I accidentily turned the volume dial to 0.00002.

5150-III didn't do it for me as well. I might have gotten a lemon also.

My personal let down was the ENGL Invader 100. Total bag of dicks there.

Twin Jet sucked massive balls to me as well, but it was not my purchase just a friend's.

Great thread, wonder if anyone will post any of Rig Talk's "darlings" as disappointments.

Deizel VH4

Diezel Herbert

Liked the Herbert better than the VH4 though...

shocked to see a list of biggest disappointments being basically a list of some of my favorite amps. i has bad taste.

I guess the one that didn't quite pan out is that Vox issue of Brian May's Deacy amp.

Did you ever try running it into a 4x12? It sounds like a modded Marshall.

A Wood... your terrible taste is made up for with your amazing playing :D

No 1's mentioned the Colossus yet so part of your rig is still safe

.... and I could never put my Herbert in a 'disappointing' category.

Diezel Einstein. For the price tag and what you get I felt it was a letdown.

I think at one point I bought a JCM900. WOW, what a piece of shit. Actually, calling that thing a piece of shit is an insult to the word shit.

I don't know why, but this is one of my favorite threads ever!

Biggest disappointment to me was Bogner Ubershall. Looked perfect for me on paper. Local shop got one in so I went and tried it out. Didnt really like it, but bought it and figured i could get it dialed in better. It was just not my thing no matter what I tried. This led me to an XTC, which seemed like a better fit. The Blue channel was pretty close. The other channels I could not do anything with. So off it went. :)

Anything Splawn!!! Biggest, costliest mistake I ever made..It also made me to never ,ever buy an amp based on video clips which is why I bought two half stacks a Promod 1/2 and a Quickrod 1/2. Sounded great on youtube!!

Don't feel bad....I had the same problem.

Rivera Knucklehead, though I think it might have been a dud. Also, Mesa's Single Recto. It's dirty channel is just thin and weak.
