Okay I have ruined myself...I listened to several reviews on the Strymon Timeline...whoa is that amazing! Then I looked up the price...whoa okay next.

So in the meantime I would like to get cheap < $125 delay pedal that sounds really nice. Im really looking for something that can cover Edge, Gilmore and Van Halen.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Ron

Digitech Hardwire DL8

Freakin Killer delay pedal, bought 2 when sweetwater or musicians friend? was blowing them out at $59 several years ago to go along with the one I already had! Multiple good delay types and while many if not most seem to use the modulated setting I prefer the tape setting. Best tape delay I've had yet!

Thank you.

I was listening to several videos on YouTube to the DL8 Hardwire, it sounds a little shrill and metallic to me. The repeats tend to walk over each other instead of fade away, if that makes sense.

Love my DL 7. I have a Carbon Copy too and it's badass but not the same level of versatility as the DL 7.

Behringer EM 600 Echo Machine. You will not find a better delay for the money IMO...

I use a mini flashback for travel gigs, paid $70 used for it! Sounds really good!

+1. Great delay that stays outta the way if you put it in the loop

That's when I got mine too. They seem to be discontinued and the ones that are around are 100+.
To the OP It's not shrill at all. The analog and tape settings are very warm. What you describe as the repeats walking over each others sounds like a delay run into the front of an amp instead of in the loop where it belongs. Boss DD3 is a classic too,but I havent used mine since I got the DL8.If I was you I would buy a few from GC used and return the ones you don't like.

This right here or if you want cheap and analog, a used EHX Memory Toy is fantastic. There are actually quite a few you could grab. The Seymour Duncan Vapor Trail is awesome. Look at used stuff for sure.

-if your gonna have it on all the time to "fatten" your tone, go analog, lots of good ones, some come in DARK/BRITE versions, my personal favorite for any kind of modulation, the undisputed king, MOOG, buy a mini Moog-(has expression pedal and a boost function)-and call it a day

Not the most popular and it's a little bigger but I really liked my Vox time machine when I had it. They can usually be had for a decent price.

I've seen a few pigtronix e2s fall in to the 150 range used since mf has sdotd them at 200.

Incredible kit. And I have a lot of delays.

Boss DD-3.
Craiglsist $60-$70. All day.

Sound fantastic and will last forever. Can't beat it.
