Mesa rectos here too, they never interested me much, but lately I find myself GASing for a Mesa mini recto.

Pedals. Used to be rack guy when it came to effects. I sold my rack about 3 months ago and now I'm all pedals.

I did the same thing about 2 years ago now. For the third time.

Anyways, I *think* I'm over to pedals for good now. I hate programming.

I used to despise telecasters. Now I have a definite plan to build one for myself.
I also used to despise distortion pedals. Then Wampler came along.

Recently, the Les Paul. Around this time last year, I was playing nothing but them. I have had my only one in the shop for several months now, demoed a very nice new one, and just couldn't get on with it. Absolutely nothing wrong with the guitar, I've just become really spoiled by my super resonant and sustaining EJ Strat that weighs just under 7 lbs.

9 lbs. is fairly light for a Les Paul, but it felt so heavy and awkward... I was really missing my Les Paul and the humbucker tone, but I feel like I can get on perfectly without them now. I might sell it, or case it up for awhile when I get it back, since it's signed by someone who is a complete badass and I feel guilty parting with it...

P-90 pickups....never wanted to even try them years ago. Then I heard the live version of Sweet Jane by Lou Reed and changed my mind quickly!!

Never dug pedals (except wah), Marshalls (til I played the right one), Floyd rose, g12-75s, teles, strats, single coil pups...

Now I own and/or enjoy them all.

OD pedals and boosts in general. Never liked the idea, but got a JCM 800 and boosting it is so much fun. Now, I even like to run a clean boost sometimes with high gain amps on leads just to give a little more oomph to single notes.

Oh, and 4x12 cabs. Use to think they were too big, heavy, and unnecessary. But now I can't be without them. They're not all that heavy, and if you buy them dinged up already those trips up and down stairs are less stressful. And they sound way better than smaller cabs.

Kemper, thought they were butt ugly and were gonna sound like crap. I now really want one and want some patch hook ups!!!!!!!!!

honestly every piece if equipment in my current rig... tele and orange ad30, clean boost and analog delay out front... was against all four things three years ago.

used to not like Teles..................big fan now

used to love my JP6....................now it rarely gets played. Love the tone but I'm digging thicker necks now.

used to love "gear"......................still do but trying to spend more time playing, less on gear.

I changed my mind on any guitar that wasn't pointy and black... Being a thrash kid in high school who hated everything glam or pop (Look at me now!) my philosophy was that if it wasn't pointy or different or was in a flashy color it sucked... Especially Les Pauls, Teles and Strats.
Thank God I was 15 or 16 at the time and the most monetary damage I did was buy a Dimebag Darrel Dean From Hell before I came to my senses and now own multiple superstrats, making a supertele and plan on buying an LP of sorts in a few months... All in flashy colors or flashy something about em

The ATMA.

I was expecting another lunchbox almost amp. Sounded pretty good. Not sure if I would get it over the Helios. But it sounds great and is compact.

I used to be anti Axe FX, 'til I was finally able to try an II and realized how useful and practical it was for me. I bought one about a week later and have been in love with it ever since. Is it a replacement for my tube amps? No, but it's a damn fine alternative to them, and a lot more practical to use at odd hours of the day and night.

G12T-75s

I still hate standing in front of them but I like the way they sound through a mic.

Mesa MC-90

I hate the way they sound by themselves but like the way they sit with a band.

Overdrive pedals

I hated the way they made an amp sound and they felt terrible to play through, then I used one with a lower gain amp that could actually benefit from the boost and my eyes were opened.

10s

I used to believe that big strings = big tone. I still do to some extent but I could never get the high notes to scream the way I wanted until I switched to thinner strings.

Definitely agree with all of that. Boost --> Plexi is a great thing!

I think thinner strings sound bigger IF the action is set correctly. Might also restrict that to the bridge pickup, as thick strings sound great with the neck pickup of my LP. That said, I just switched to 8s for standard E tuning. No plans of going back!
