Is the SL really needed?

Yes, I would like to go all out but also like to save $$.

I was curious about which ISP sub would be the best and most economical one to get.

Is the G112 good enough? Will it even make an impact?

They might have older models but right now the site only shows the G112, The Vector 210, Vector 212 and the SL.

I have never played through one of these but from what I have read up on it is a must have. Just not sure if the lower end models even compete.

I have had the 600 watt 15" since they came out. Have two now. They are way too much...but that's why they have a volume knob. Better to have more headroom than you need.

Buck waller assures me the new 400 watt 2x10 is perfect. Smaller and easier to manage. I really do want one....but then a vht deliverance or Rhodes or peters pops up and...well, you know.

Plus its hard to downgrade.lol

700bux for the 2x10. I would highly suggest that. I wouldn't get the 300 watt 12".

Added, I am bidding on the 2x10 on eBay.

HAHA wow two??? That is pretty crazy...

but can the 10"'s deliver? Traditionally I thought smaller speakers just punch harder and the bigger ones bring the crush your rib cage factor.

Well, we will find out soon. I am hoping to score the 2x10 on eBay now.

Cool man, keep me posted..

I had the 15inch years ago... it was cool but more trouble than it was worth to gig with...

Honestly I don't understand the need for a sub with guitar frequencies what they are and where they are centered...maybe one of you could explain. Doesn't it massively interfere with the bass guitar in frequency?

This is exactly why I never got one. Cool idea, but I'd rather leave some room for the bass player.

As far as the mix goes, Its all about frequency layering.

But the ISP subs have a built in crossover that keeps the lows out of your 12" guitar speakers. Your guitar cab stays tighter.

I am going to ebay now and outbid you.
Cause I am fruity like that. Then sell it to you at a later date.

I had the larger one. I wasn't impressed. Palm muting and lead playing no matter what settings was it was all over. The resonance in the room was always off. Also Micing in the studio was always a waste. We tried for like 3 4 days it did nothing. So Just a heads up, Unless your only a Rhythm player always in your bedroom i wouldn't waste your time. Get a nice cab pending your requirements with really good speakers and save the cash. Harsh, It has bottom end that really takes away from the kick or low end of the Bass depending on the sound your bands going for. It Was nothing special. My 2 Cents. I bought 2 after i saw christian from fear factory using it live. However it was not even close lol. Kept them for a while gigged, Injured my back and pisssed off sound guys everywhere in nyc area. Bottom line it did shi# Not impressive. Good luck maybe it will work for you..

I've read it doesnt interfere with the bass guitar at all and that it produces a lower mid frequency that isn't near bass frequencies but have never played one. Have also read people don't record with them or mic them at a small to mid sized venue.

This is the video that originally had me interested

If you don't know how to dial in frequency layering, you will have issues. And you shouldn't crank it up too far. And don't mike it. Its for more than just bottom end thump. Again, I think the best part is the crossover keeping the super low end out of the guitar cabs speakers. That keeps them from flexing and keeps them tight.

That being said, I have 2 warhead stacks with the 2x15 cabs on the bottom. I love them just as much as the ISP and 4x12 combo. But I don't move my stuff around. If needed, there are pro guitar techs in my area who do it for me...for a decent price. But I'm not gigging a bunch. I would hate to have to move this crap around myself.
