Dont get me wrong.... I'm GASing for a PRS Archon myself, but isnt the DMoll in a completely different arena? I havent played either amp, but it seems to me like its unfair to compare the Archon and a DMoll.

Why would it seem unfair? :confused:

Again, I'm no expert and I haven't played either amp. But it seems to me that it would be like comparing a BMW M3 (Archon) to a Porsche 911 4s (DMoll). The BMW is a damn fine car, but the Porsche is just in a different league.

IMO...There are no different leagues in this game. Having owned Bogners, Diezels, ENGLs, Fryettes, Friedman, Soldano etc. As well as many less expensive amps , it has been my conclusion that price tag does not matter when it comes to what you prefer. There are certain "cheap" amplifiers that I like more than other expensive ones. So to say its not fair to compare a PRS amp to a Diezel sounds silly to me.

Had a RK for a few weeks but it had this strange looseness to the low end and buzzy high end no matter where I had it set up. Lots of options but meh at the end of the day. Good luck, IMO the DMoll is most versatile.

I got a Splawn Nitro recently that beats the hell out if the Diezel Herbert I had. Similar low end thump but way more organic roar and mid grind that the Herbert lacked. So yes cheaper amp can still sound good. The DMoll is on another level with the Road King and Archon

I got a road king off a friend for very cheap, I must have messed with it and various OD boost pedals for days and found no tone that I liked more than just the "eh" said above. The D-moll is my choice out of those, the Archon seems cool but the D-moll is the winner for me.

Agreed, though I'd argue comparing the three in the OP isn't really "fair" in that they're all voiced pretty differently, though I haven't gotten my hands on an Archon yet. If those three are your choices, you may need to figure out exactly what you want. Or buy them all and figure it out in person for more fun. :lol: :LOL:

DMoll = $3200
Archon = $1899

Can buy an Archon for $1500 after discount. I still have a hard time trusting it. Like if Bogner started making guitars

Is this a discount I could get? If so, where? I would probably pull the trigger at that price.

Actually I think they are voiced similarly. Many people think the Archon sounds like a modded Rectifier and UberschallEL34 mentioned he thought the D-Moll reminded him of a triple Rectifier, in a different way. It's not like the comparison is a Twin Reverb and a 6505+.

This makes sense. Im feeling like a total noob now. :doh: Having never played a Diezel and hearing all he high praise they get along with the price point, I just assumed that they would be in a different league. Thanks for setting me straight guys.

My guy at Sweetwater offered me that discount - but I got a MkV that was "open box" although footswitch and everything else were still sealed up. Just have a hard time trying unknown gear - been there before. PRS makes some great stuff and it looks like the Archon is now being used by Emil Werstler (he was using a Bogner Shiva 20th and Mesa Dual Rec) so maybe the Archon is a blend of those 2 amps.

Get a SLO just because!!!! :thumbsup: :rock: :thumbsup:

Ha. Great sounding head, used one for all the leads when I was in the studio a few months ago but it didn't have the :inlove: factor for me. I also don't like what I have heard about the effects loops.

Not sure why anyone would recommend or vote for the PRS.

Has anyone gigged with it? Has anyone done any sessions with it?

Probably not.

Rethink mang yes n yes. It fkn kills !

My question is all you guys saying dmoll over the archon ,I'm not sure you all have played the archon. Only so few are out there so far. So to say dmoll over prs... Speak from experience before you through the other under the bus.
