78' G12M 25 watt Blackbacks here.

Also have had 1982' Rola G12-80's [not lead 80's] they were pretty awesome.

I had two 4x12's of V30's and for my mid-heavy amps we didn't bond.

Also took over 6 months to sell, couldn't give them away.

I imagine they're good for dropped scooped tones.[/quote]

No the holes in da grills is where the MojoTone comes out ... :m4: :2thumbsup:

My two 4x12s I run in stereo currently have a bit of a crazy setup of two EVH greenbacks on top and 1 Hellatone V30 and 1 Anniversary G12H30 on the bottom (I evenly mixed the speakers I had when I had some custom 4x12 cabs made) and I'm ready to ditch the H30s in favor of two more V30s I think. Actually sounds real good as is but I have a feeling it would better with one less variable.

Tempted to try the 2-V30/2-Greenback thing seems like that combo is pretty strong..

They are sounding honky as fuck lately. Im diggin G12H30's right now.

What about you?
I made the switch from V30s to G12H30s a long time ago.

Steve

I settled on G12-65s, but I like plenty of cabs with V30s (Mesa and Bogner). I've tried the G12H30 before and even a really old set had a zingy top end I wasn't fond of, at least with my stuff. YMMV.

I dig them mixed with EVH's. :)

I'd love to try this.

I've had the EVH 412 and the speakers are phenomenal. I used to hate v30's but I really like them the more that I've used them. Pretty much all my amps sound good through my v30 212 and some amps sound the best through them.

How are you guys going about auditioning speakers with your individual gear (i.e. your amps, guitars)?

I have Bogner 4 x 12 with V30's and I've come to hate them...but I'm also not really up for spending $ 200 per speaker, only to end up still not being satisfied. It seems impossible to try out speakers before you buy them.

I guess depends if you want to record them or stand in front of them. I also thought the G12H30's had crazy top end but they were the best sounding clean or semi crunch speakers and with gain they sounded awesome when recorded. Same with V30.. seem hollow and honky to my ear but they are probably the best recording speaker. So clear I find and handle gain well. I love greenbacks and legacies for in the room but have been thinking i would really like just one V30 to record with.

I havn't bailed, but I don't like just v30's. I've mixed 'em with several different types and right now am running this. I don't know how much difference there is between the h30 and the h30 70 anniversary, but it's grown on me and I like the mix. The v30s give more thump and lower mid, and the h30 has a more percussive feel, and higher mid. Seems like more growl and less fizz than the v30. With the volume up around 10:30 to 11, That cab has so much balls you'd think King Kong was in the room with ya'!

Got away from those things about 10 years ago. Been using Legend V12s ever since, pretty much.

First 4X12 I owned I loaded with Vintage 30s, and that was back in '95. I've used them for most of my adult life. They're awesome speakers. Yet I did exactly what the OP did and put a G12h-30 in a 1X12 cab and am very happy. Sometimes a lil change ain't a bad thing.

Love V30's, favorite speaker. But, if you have more than one cab, with different speakers, try an X pattern with existing speakers. I love a 75 x 30 combo.

I know I'm in the minority and doesn't really matter but, I've never liked V-30's..EVAR!! Yeah..I'm bored

I did. They can sound so damn good with a band but isolated they can be nasty depending on the amp. They are the standard, along with Greenbacks but they are so present in certain frequencies (2-4k maybe?) Went with several Webers, CL80, H30 since and I probably bonded with the H30 the most. I'm thinking about going back to V30s mixed with H30s. That's a killer combo.

They sound great aimed at my knees. At my ears, not so much.

if it doesn't sound good enough in my mesa cabs and V30's, the amp goes to the closet of shame.
LOL excellent!

I'm 100% with you on that...except my test is through my front loaded v30 Diezel straight cab. Best cab I've ever owned.
