i really like the M90. they cover a lot of ground as far as gain tones, they do thier own thing, but can go from Recto-ish kind of thing to fairly crunchy Marshall kind of thing. haven't found a speaker/cab that it doesn't get along with, sounds great with everything i've tried it with.

also the only amp i've had that i don't run a boost pedal with.

as somebody mentioned, they don't bash your brains out with low end thump, but they do have some bottom.

thier new prices are too high, but i think Inca's is a damn good price!

I've tried 2 out of the 3 Elmwoods, and while this may be harsh, judging strictly by their prices, I think they are a joke. IMO they're on par with amps costing 1/2 their price.

Yeah, I yanked the M90 sale, due to lack of interest.
People were offering me 5153 and Genz Benz for Trades,
I'll keep it!!! It is a Killer Amp, it has the right amount of Modern Sound
mixed with a Nasty Marshall Bite. You can Dial Plexi, Modded JCM 800, to
Searing Metal Tones very easily, with a Ton of Head Room with the KT-88's.
It can get very LOUD and stay clear as a Bell through out all your chord changes.
It's no doubt a Top Shelf Amplifier that can hang in any Musical situation.
Watch these clips and decide for yourself,
Peace!

I own a M-60 and I love it. I also own Splawn, marshall, fender, and several custom built heads. I think the m-60 is like a fender and marshall get together and build a hot , hot version combined of their products together. Also with very good touch sensitive feel to it. I kinda feel like they found a way at elmwood to get the crazy live juiced feedback under control for you to have at will. Even at studio and rehearseal volumes and use. Very unique little amp head and definately has it's own spot in the market. That being said, I have owned alot of modern amps, sold the engls, the 1 bogner I had, tried a diesel einstien head lately, and various others. I can say for myself I tend to like the older or vintage stuff, The diesel was really nice, seemed a touch grainy to me and I do regret letting the bogner go. But I had to, I bought to move and make money which I did, so keeping that one was out of the question. The next amp for me is VHT, I love the d-60 but no effects loop. The Sig-x has that but I just think it is too much to dial in as far as my tastes go. TOO MANY KNOBS....Like the New mesa rectifier 3 channels. IMHO. But I hear they are killer amps though, the sig-x's .... :)

I hear ya. I do know that the shipping to get them here to the states is $450.00 U.P.S. and that is included in the price, so that explains some of it. They are cool guys over there, I have shared E-mails with JAN, The guy that created the first ones and ERLAND the newest member of their executive group, very nice and punctual guy. And lastly Peter who I have shared E-mails and the guy has called me on the phone multiple times to get me what I was after and answer questions. Peter just goes all out. Just tries to do everything he can, and all the while do business the correct way. ;) He is the perfect guy to represent them, and if they had him over here in the states, they would probably become very market savy. :) In all they are very professional, very decent, and from what I know, the kinda guys you want on the other end of your business when it comes to amps and gear that cost this much. I was impressed to hell with the whole lot of them in the end. :D Just the best guys .. They are half a world away and it is 6 hours difference ahead and the guys will still call ya , our time. It don't get much better than that.

i was offered a very fair deal on one and was kicking it around. i play in a death metallish type of band and was wondering if it would work for me. we are tuned to b flat, and while we have alot of leads and harmonies, we are not a "techinical" type of metal band. we're more about ballsy riffs and screaming guitar leads with more traditional song structures. i currently play a Mesa Dual Recto (two channel old school model- it doesn't have the fizziness of the newer models at all) that sounds really big and nasty, but our other guitarist uses a similar setup, so i started experimenting with other heads (VHT Deliverance, ENGL Fireball, ENGL Thunder, Peavey 5150, Soldano SLO) before i settled on a Diezel Einstein. great amp with really smooth and "mastered" like guitar tone but hard to fit in with what we're doing cuz it doesn't have the nasty cut of a Mesa that i'm used too. i haven't heard a lot of chunky or modern metal riffage on clips i've heard, so i'm not sure if the Elmwood is right for me. we're on myspace if anyone is interested (check outThe Embalmed- myspace.com/theembalmed) although we're not everyone's cup of tea. alot of the songs are fairly old and we got back together not too long ago so we are finishing up the newest cd. any thoughts on the Elmwood?

:) hey Bloodsong, I don't see you being as happy with the m-90 for brutal metal stuff. Maybe I am wrong, but I just don't see it going that far that well. I hear alot of good things about the m-90, but I hear several guys say they think it sounds sterile. Just what I hear. But everyone is different. Kinda like me, the first time I had the engl blackmore, it had this almost too perfect distortion to it. Now that it is gone and I have not owned one for about 4 months now, I kinda want to get another. But I will buy VHT instead.

 By the way, ask Magh8 about his amp set ups. he plays serious metal and he has run through several amps until he is presently happy. He is a member on here and on harmony central, Splawn forum and several others. He is my buddy, nice guy. He would be the one to talk to.

hey, when ya talk to Magh8, you will probably be stunned at some of the stuff he has tried and gotten good results with. Me and him both have had some rotten luck with some of these High dollar pay and wait your azz off amp builders. So Magh8 has been on this try out some of the store bought heads journey. He has gotten a few that do the job just fine. Hell, he has me trying to find one of them to give a try myself. The dude is spot on right down the middle cool. Great friend. Very helpfull.

I really dig the 90, it is the amp I feel most at home with. Its solid and consistent through and through. That being said, in this economy we have now, you can't beat the used prices! Also the prices are higher due to a lack of distributor and therefore the lack of mass shipments via a container. They are all two-day'd from sweden to here and it costs some $$$. If you want feel free to email/call/pm me and I will give you a lengthy list of people to talk to for opinions of the elmwood!

I owned an M60 for over a year and now have simbasa's M90. They really are great amps IMHO. If you're stuck on the modded Marshall tone, they're not going to be for you, but if you want a versatile modern-ish amp that can cover a lot of tonal ground, it's awesome. It's a hard amp to pin down because they don't really sound like anything else. That said, I can dial it to get everything from AC/DC to Gov't Mule to Disturbed with no problem. Not sure if it can get into really brutal metal - not my thing.

You definitely need to spend time to learn this amp - the tone controls are very reactive and you can get a ton of tones. I've found that you need to keep the mids up and (especially) the treble down if you don't want it too scooped. The M90 also really needs to be kinda loud to sound its best - minimum 9 or 10 oclock on the master for it to start to breathe. The M60 is a better low-volume amp.

It's a shame the dollar is so weak - that's the main reason these amps cost so much right now. I bought used, but if I had to pay the full price I would, because it gets more of the sounds I want than any other amp.

;) The Elmwood Modena's are just incredible. The staff at Elmwood is equally just as incredible and knowledgeable. New or used you can't go wrong. But Josh is spot on about the lack of resources to gain them from at the present, hence the lower number of sales, effecting prices to some degree. :) Atleast in a short time frame you do infact get what you are after from those guys.
