I'm thinking about getting a couple to load in 4x12 in an X-pattern with V30's. I don't overly like the clips I've heard, TBH, but I do know a lot of people like them in-the-room, and I've got under-the-mic covered with the V30's. So who here likes Eminence V12's and can sell me on them? Any good clips you guys can point me into?

:)

I love the Legends, maybe more than v30s (?) They are great speakers on a wide range of material. To compare I have WGS Retro, k100, and Mesa v30s. I'll have to dig around to find clips.

I think they sound great. Big and smooth. No ice pick.

I agree with these guys. I use the V12 Legends in 16 ohms in two Soldano 4X12 cabs for the wet cabs in my W/D/W rig. I like them better than Vintage 30s too. They are sort of in the "British" vein, but no ice pick and not a lot of coloration from speaker break up. Hell, they are 120 watt speakers, so you gotta drive them really hard to get any break up. They don't break up at the volume levels I run them. That's really why I like them as my wet speakers in my W/D/W rig. They don't break up and are clear, warm, and smooth sounding. Good bass, good mids, goot top without ice pick. I think they are great speakers for effects because of their lack of break up and clarity, and they blend well with my dry cabs using greenbacks, Scumbacks, etc. They may not be the most popular speakers, but they are good speakers in my experience.

Awesome, dudes! Thanks for the replies.

No clips anyone can point me towards? :)

On all the clips I've heard where the V30 and V12 are compared, it seems as if the V12 has less going on in the high-mids but more going on in the actual high-end... is this true in you guys' experience?

Sorry I don't have any clips of mine. You are correct IMO. There is no high mid spike in the V12s, but there seems to be more presence in the high-end. I don't know if there is actually more in the high-end, or if it just seems that way because the V30 high-mids aren't there. However, the presence in the V12 Legends is a SMOOTH high-end, if you can dig that. There is NOTHING harsh about the V12 Legends. They also have more low-end or low-mids than the V30s. The best description I can think of for the V12 Legends (in a nut shell) is tight, warm, clear, and smooth.
