Who makes an amp that sounds like a '68 -'69 unmodded lay down transformer Plexi? The real deal. I played a '68 one with a variac and a Scumback cab the other day. YIKES! I'm not sure what the deal is with getting an original, was wondering if any of these boutique guys make a real authentic one, no master etc...? Not sure if similar parts are available to really recreate it. Or does anyone know of a monster Plexi for sale?

???

Not much of help here, but those things really kill. You need to get the original old cab too though for the full blasting awesomeness. The only amp I'd put next to the Diezels & possibly even better sounding.

Have you played one? The clips have no balls out playing, I'm looking for the early VH wide open thing.

Build a Ceriatone and switch out the OT, and any other parts deemed necessary?

Metro does a bang up job with they're Plexi's.
And they recreated Marshall's early 4x12 to spec.
Quality work too I must say,and the amps are awsome
sounding.

Metro
Plexi's are their specialty, I think they are better than the HW Marshall

I would call Chris Merren of Merren audio transformers. He has the old Marshall's really nailed down. 310-536-0010.

I'm right there with 'ya James.....I've been thinking about that tone too!

I can clone that amp you tried James. Thats the plan any way. Its going to be a new model from me.

+1 to Metro, but don't rule out a Bray-modded amp or a Reinhardt. All can do it. +1 to the greenbacks, broken in.

Now that is cool

James, Check out Brey as well. Heard good things about their work.

You should buy the one you played. I've got both a 68 and 69 plexi. The 69 is top dog out of EVERY Marshall I've owned and or played.

The 68 I sold once and finally bought back recently. It is a killer too but the 69 is still better.

There's always something missing in the clones.

Takes awhile to find a good one.
