Who said the Line 6 stuff doesn't sound good live? (video)

I certainly never did.

The vast majority of the crap Line 6 tones I have heard live were 100% because whoever dialed in the thing made it sound like crap.

Line 6 stuff cuts just fine and sounds great if you know what you are doing.

For a long time, I have said I would use a HD147 live in a heartbeat. Great amp.

I've heard both examples of good tone and very bad tone from Line6 stuff live. Just like anything else, it's all in how you dial it in. If I were in a cover band, I'd be using L6 on stage too.

I used line 6 stuff live and I actually got a lot of compliments on my tone. I found the secret to making them sound good was to not go direct and mic up the amp. Sounded tons better.

I actually don't like that tone. Sounds fake to me.

I like the lead tone but not the rhythm.

I'd have to go with you here. When I was using the Vetta live, I always made my patches with the direct-out tone the 'priority' and just took whatever the cabs gave me. It was a compromise all the way around. The Vetta is a great sounding amp, just sucks direct.

The feel is a different issue.

The guy in the video rips. They need to bring in another drummer, and get that guy out front...unless he's not 'presentable' ha!

A few random points:

- It's weird to see young kids playing Badlands
- This kid smokes on guitar
- His tone is fantastic if you ask me and it looks like he's using all Line 6 stuff (Spider and Flextone)

Just thought I'd share...

Chris

I've heard alot of good things about the original Flextones. I'd like to try one out.

Cool band, the guitarist smokes. This clip is cool. I don't like the sound on hear, it is very thin, but the the playing is great. The sound on "Just got Lucky" sounds really good.

it's all relative....i thought the tone was great considering you can hit a real badlands youtube link and hear horrific clips of jake's tone based on the recording/youtube compression...i've always loved that nuno N4 too.

impressive 16 year old for sure and good find Thump

I couldn't have said it any better. I completely agree with you.

I tried a Spidervalve recently and was able to get a bitchin' tone out of it. I wouldn't hesitate to use that live. Didn't make me want to sell my 5150 III, but I could definitely get VERY usable tones for a live situation.

Just goes to show ya!

My cousin has a spider and I thought it sounded like pure garbage. That kid makes it sound passable though. The lead tone is good, not so sold on the rythym sound though.

Man that kid rules, very slick and seems to have picked the right guys to model himself from!

About the tone, here is George with a pile of who knows what live in 87.............................

I think the Line 6 through a camcorder sounded better...................imo.

Yep ,the kid has some skills .

Just listened to the link you posted Digital and a few more .like Kiss of death ..

Maybe im missing something but Mick sounds like a horrible drummer in those .Tempos way too fast .and especially in "just got lucky" sounds like he slows down in the chorus when he is singing ..

George's tone

that kid is awesome! You can tell he is a total natural and just makes it look effortless and fun..

I see allot of people that can play the notes but this guy puts his soul into it!

I love george but he takes using delay to just idiotic levels...

blow and whiskey can hamper a performance

as for line 6 ...I like the stuff...heres a video I already posted of my fun cover band..

this is all vetta...not the best sounds but definitely usable... I am an old lazy ass so I find the trade off of showing up with a head , floorboard and ez switching to outweigh the mess of cables, rack gear and floor effects to mimic tones....this same band does alot of u2 and the police so I needed a versatile type amp..and didn't want to spend a fortune
