It can be used on both but its really to much gain on the HBE channel. It add just as much gain to the BE as the HBE has if not more. Dave

If this new saturation switch makes it sound more metal, like a Cameron Jose, it's a winner.

yep, that's what it does...same basic principle! ....................it is METAL!

Did you use the switch with the BE or HBE?

dave has the "saturation" switch set-up to work with both the BE and HBE.it's a great feature to have, imo.even if i only had the HBE,i'd still want it for the simple fact that it boosts the gain more(saturated & chewy).it's like getting a "bonus" in the cameron vein ;)

So Dave thinks it's a little too much gain/saturation with the HBE, but you think using it with the HBE pushes it more into Cameron territory?

EXACTLY! ...dave may just be more of a med-high gain type guy,as far as HIS personal preference.of course, some of us love the crushing high-gain stuff.i love everything from evh to doom metal :D all i can say is,if you send friedman your amp...GET THE SATURATION SWITCH!!!

Dave or Goldwing, does the switch change the eq at all, or does it just boost the gain? And when HBE is switched does the response become muddy or hard to control?
Someone REALLY needs to get some clips posted here. And the friggin Premier Guitar video from the amp show wasn't uploaded.

Look all I can tell you is the BE with the switch is about what the Cameron is as far as gain. The HBE is way more then any Cameron. Remember the Cameron has 3 tubes the HBE has 4 there is a extra gain stage in there where the Cameron does not have that. But what ever you guys want is fine. Get it all. Then you have options. Dave

Thanks for all the replies and info Dave! We're probably driving you nuts   But you have one of the coolest amps out there right now and there are hardly any clips and no videos(besides the shootout) to do it justice. I think once a few great clips and/or demo videos surface, the sound will speak for itself

Yeah I kind of like being a little mysterious. But stuff is coming. Dave

glassjaw7,the saturation switch does not, imo, change the e.q. at all...does pretty much what it implies.makes the immediate tone more "saturated".feels more gainy, adds chewyness.unfortunately i have no way make any clips for ya...sorry! i might add that with dave's mods the MV is great and can do low bedroom volumes sounding just fine,so another bonus.also,no weird "volume" jumps with the way the volume pot "taper" is set-up

I played the HBE, BE and tested the saturation switch on a friends amp yesterday. Holy crap! All I can say is that IMO, there is no better hot rodded Marshall tone that I have heard and Dave wins on versatility. Camerons are great, no doubt and I have played psychoDaves Jose so I know how great that one is. IMO Dave's mod can sound on par with this and can go into Martin Golub territory with the HBE and saturation switch for that extra grind. My impression after playing the amp was what more would you ever need in searching for hot rodded Marshall tones. I sent my JMP last week for the Kitchen sink and Sat switch and am glad I did. Can't wait to get her back.

I love my Cameron Jose and Aldrich, but I am always open to new Marshall based tones. I have been going back and forth with myself about sending Dave my 1972 Super Lead...that I was going to mod myself. I just dont have the time to tinker right now and would rather be playing. ;) I just want to hear his amps in person before I take the dive... ;) I think Danhops is getting a kitchen sink soon, so I may have to borrow his... :D

Dave, I'm in the same boat. I tinkered and got something sounding ok but not really balanced and don't want to keep chasing it. There is a reason these guys are great at what they do. I want to be done with the search and just get back to playing more regularly. You have a few keepers in your stable, that's for sure. The Freidman would be a no brainer to add on to the great stuff you already have. It sounds killer!

Agreed and Dave has so many options to boot! It makes it hard to decide on getting something since Dave is willing to customize as well...

..and his name's Dave,so you know he's gotta be cool ;) ...yeah,the cameron jose & alrdrich amps are SOOOOOOOOO killer too, man!!! great amps.only, sold my jose-hg because i found my "kitchen-sink" modded Purplexi amp to be a bit more versatile, which i was in need of,and had THE TONE(especially now with the "saturation" switch)!!! ...otherwise,the cammy SMOKED!!!

I just got back from Dave's shop where I played a Marsha with the BE, HBE, and Saturation switch. Gonna post a review in a little while.
