Why all the Blackstar hate?

I recently got an HT-5 head, and I absolutely love it! Through my 4x12, and my RP1000 for FX only, I can nail just about anything. It now has me gassing for an HT100. I don't get all the hate. I'm looking into an EVH 50 watt as well, but leaning towards the Blackstar.

When I had my HT 5 I had a ton of fun with it. It does seem that it's either a love or hate with their amps. I've never played one of the larger ones so I don't know how they sound in person. If do decide to go the EVH route there are a few here in the classifieds including mine that are at really good prices.

THe band I tech for on the side used to use them for clean tones. HT1 I think they were? We didn't like the higher gain settings at all, but the clean tones were really awesome. THis is a metalcore band though, so that is the tone we were looking at.

I never seen "Hate" for blackstar on here. Just not much attention.
Never had a chance to play one myself. Sure they are good amps.

I played a Blackstar Metal head (I think that's what it was called?) at a gig a few weeks ago, I had brought a 2000's Dual Recto because my main head is being worked on. The Blackstar smashed the DR, so I used it for the gig. Would love to play one again. It even sounded good through the 70/80 speakers which I usually don't like, it must slay with V30's and 75's.

I think it was this:

They are buzzy sounding, bland amps... but the Artisan series is superb.

Where are you seeing hate? Guys on gear forums don't usually go gaga over stuff you can buy at Guitar Center. Doesn't mean there's anything wrong with it.

Just about everywhere, people bad-mouth Blackstar. Sterile, harsh, solid-state, not tube, I could go on.

I don't see a lot of hate just not much talk but isn't the HT5 solid state preamp with tube power amp? That's what I had read, maybe a different mode;?

I've spent a good deal of time with my buddy's HT Stage 100. It's a really good sounding amp. I could definitely use one as my main amp if I had to. It's not bad at all.

The only negative is its pretty noisy.

People say the same about current Marshalls. Opinions are like assholes everybody s got one. It shouldn't matter what other people think. If you like it buy it. Why do you need to feel validated by other people opinion of your gear? Who gives a shit if people don't fawn over your amp? If it works for you, rock it.

if i’s good enough for Uli Roth.............how can the peanut gallery mutter one iota of shit?

Never see BS hatin here. Been spending too much time at TGP lately?

I disagree completely. The HT20 sounds incredible. The HT100 is great too if you open it up with enough volume. If you can't make those sound good then there is a problem that has nothing to do with the amp. You also can't lump in the Series Ones into that statement either because they are one another level from their HT stuff. With all due respect, if there is any hate against Blackstar that I'm not aware of, it's comments like that which spread misinformation.
