I've only tried cheaper stuff, and this was the best product in the price range. I forget how much it was, but I think I got it for around 300ish or so 4 or 5 years ago. I can hear tone suckage with all wireless setups, but the Sennheiser does a great job at minimizing it, especially for the price.

cheers man! will check it out

Anyone else with any suggestions?

I highly vouch for the sennheiser...

My old bass player had it, never dropped out.

I bought one.

2 stories

1) plugged it in out of the box in my basement had the wife listen for it to drop out, walked 4 houses down, never lost the signal.

2) 4th of july last year, walked a block and a half and only dropped out as I was on the other side (diagonal long way) of a brick building....

I've never had a problem...and more frequencies to choose from than you can imagine....

as a tip, if you get it, you can contact someone in your area (I forget who exactly) and have them tell you which frequencies arent being used in your area. Program your wireless to that and your home free....

I've used the Sennheiser EW172 since about 2002, with bass, and guitar, and NEVER had a dropout or any problems. Look for a used one on ebay, I'd think you should be able to find one at a decent price.

Great batter life too. AA's are cheap and I used mine at the last show we did, then at the last three practices, and It's still showing 2 out of 3 bars of battery left.

wow great guys cheers!

The_Kid - that is a long way for the signal to still be going!

I've got a Shure wireless system that I'll let go on the cheap. A friend gave it to me, said it works, but there's a screw or something rolling around inside that needs to be reseated.

I can get you the model number later if you're interested.

Audio Technica ATW-1451

Cheap, but reliable. Dropped the receiver (body pack) a couple of times on stage, never failed me. Never got noises or interferences with it.

I've been using the Shure SLX4 for years with great great results!

Ive used them all and I absolutely love my X2, best thing in its price range and better than others costing twice as much IMO. No squashing and sounds closest to a cord, again IMO...

something to keep in mind I posted in its own thread...

You've probably heard rumors floating around about the future of wireless systems, so we've decided to clear the air once and for all (pun very much intended). The FCC just couldn't let those airwaves be, so on February 17th, 2009, the range of 698-806 MHz will be allocated to other wireless services. Simply put, all UHF systems within that range will no longer function as intended; they'll still power on, but with a MUCH greater chance of interference. All systems outside that range (both VHF and UHF) will still work great. With these changes in mind, what options do you have? For any current owner of a wireless system within the affected range, Shure is offering a $40 rebate with the purchase of any PGX14 or PGX24/58 system. Fill out the rebate form, send in your old system (no matter the manufacturer), and get $40 cash back. Existing Shure wireless owners affected by the frequency changes may even be entitled to much higher rebates! (Rebate forms are available on our site as well as Shure's.) If you haven't yet experienced wireless freedom, we've put together this buying guide of wireless systems that are guaranteed to work even after the UHF conversion. As always at Same Day Music, if you place your order today, we'll ship today, and you could be in the free and clear as early as tomorrow.
