Agree with all of this. I'll add that while the Wizards of course sound better as volume goes up, like insanely better to the point that I still don't believe what I hear/feel when I play mine, all 4 Wizards I've had were the best low volume amps I've owned also. Even at lower volumes there's still girth, punch, balls, and tremendous articulation. For me however that's using an MXR in the loop, using the loop send/returns set at noon, and boosting the front end with an OD.
The "rock solid quality to the notes" Sam speaks of is absolutely true and I feel his description is the best way to describe it. No other amp I've played has this quality except the D60 and a 79 loop modded Mark IIB I had, but the Wizards offer more in this respect. The tone of the notes whether single notes or power chords just has this warmth, articulation, clarity, weight, and bite that is just in a league of its own. No other amp has highs like a Wizard either. The raw, open, uncompressed nature of the gain structure lends to the most open, clear, and pure high notes ever.
