I haven't seen one of these in quite some time, and I'm bored, up early watching the squirtle make a mess, so here you go. What is your pick for the worst guitar solo ever?
My number one is K King's solo on fight for your right to party. It is THE suck! I think it may have been from the era when he still didn't know what notes were in key and such. I read somewhere quite some years ago that he would just pick a bunch of random notes really fast, and tried to pick ones that he thought sounded best, or something along those lines. At any rate, the solo on Fight For Your Right to Party is really friggin' stinky!
Also, since we're talking about suckage, can you think of a player that either A) sucks so bad that they can make a killer sounding/well eq'd rig sound like ass? or B) is really a solid player, but can't turn knobs worth a crap and thus makes a killer rig sound like ass regardless of skill?
Most gearheads will normally agree that a killer player can make any POS amp sound good, but what about the reverse? So there you are, 2 basic questions.
1) Worst solo
2) Player with great gear either has suck tone, or plays so bad everything they touch sounds like ass
I hope this isn't too edgy for y'all at 8am lol!
Oh and my pick for question 2 is actually the guy that made me want to pick up and learn electric "lead" guitar.......... Neal Schon I love his playing, vibrato, etc, but he sure gets really mediocre to somewhat sucky tone from all those expensive (read Deizel VH, etc.) amps. JMO, so don't beat me up too bad on that one lol!
