Worst pickup you've played

I honestly hated the Suhr Aldrich. I tried it 3 times (in different guitars) because of all the hype........I thought I was doing something wrong. It was very stiff, cold, and harsh in every situation. I will say that I liked the DSH+ in a super strat.

Other flops for me were the Dimarzio D-Activator and Tone Zone, BKP A5 Nailbomb, and Gibson Dirty Fingers (newer model). Not a big JB fan either in most cases.

Bare Knuckle Pickups. Tried 3 different models in various guitars and couldn't sell them fast enough. The people that use them must be getting paid or something.

Im actually there too. Second bkp, holy diver and before, a painkiller. Just seems like somethings lacking. Went back to jb's and its all good. Still wanna try a warpig and a mcp garuda tho...
Never got along with the dmz supers either..

Ya know, I have yet to try a BKP I liked as well. I have tried the Cold Sweat, Painkiller and Holy Diver and didnt like them at all. Different strokes for different folks I guess!

Not sure about all the BK hate...I absolutely LOVE the Rebel Yell's in my LP

I liked it in a Charvel San Dimas Pro Mod, but wasn't a fan of the neck version of it.

I like the Aldrich in the lead position of my LPC. It does what I need it to do, which is balance out the guitar. The neck pickup of the guitar was just way overpowering the stock pickup and it still tends to overpower the Aldrich (which a neck pickup will do, ) the the Aldrich balances it nicely and sounds great. I never tried the neck pickup though.

This!
Then again, I really disliked the Nailbomb I had in my LPC, switched for a 498 and it sounded much better.

I really hate JB.Bought it 3 times,trying to find a reason to like it...sold it 3 times...
I didn't like the nailbomb by bare knuckle pickups...
So damm versatile that it couldn't do anything great...
I LOVE MY VHII though...

So far i can definitely say i dont like the Duncan 59' in the neck or JB in the bridge!

Jb has no low end and is too harsh!

59' sounds weak and gets way to loose and squishy with gain..

Also jury us still out on the Custom Customer i replaced the JB with, sounds very fat and crunchy but doesnt clean up very well at all.

Much prefer the Dimarzio Super Distortion/Liquire combo in my other guitar. That sounds amazing!

(Bothe guitars are Pro Mod Charvels  )

dragonfire pickups in an ibanez rgt42 neck through mahogany guitar.....terrible! same guitar with dimarzio D'Activators is heaven.

some pickups just don't play well with certain types of wood.

Dimebucker is at the top of my list for sure. really dislike EMG-HZ's too

Gibson 490/498/500T

Couldn't wait to rip those muddy pieces of shit out of every axe I've ever tried them in.

The 500T is among my favorites.

other then the emg 81 which is already ruled out I'd say the duncan 3b p90 which just doesn't sounds like a p90 to me.

I think this thread could be expanded to amps and effects. Hype creates a lot of issues personally (not me-generalization) and financially.

Think about the sheer amount of hype gear that gets flipped around here and fleabay.
