Would be nice to /sell/trade gear @ working man's prices but er-ee-body round here thinks their $600 dollar Jackson is a priceless work of art.

My reaper 6 I bought for $475 used near mint in '21, when they sold for $700 new. Now they sell for $900 new. :shocked:

I checked, that's only $50 more than inflation's doing.

Im guilty as I own a couple of them but well before recent price stupidity. I understand how inflation works but QC has gone down as prices have gone up. They have also become production guitars with a few minor options changes. There's nothing custom about them that justifies those prices

This and they got rid of layaway....... with Zzounds and MF nvm SweetWater or American Music Supply......


Why even shop at Guitar Center...... nvm the salesmen now really are more useless than shoe salesmen from the 90s or a Circuit City...... it used to be at least around here the dudes knew about gear.... now sales dudes at GC can't even figure out a simple pedal station or how to work basic cables..... Generation D- at its worst :dunno:

I don't go to a music store for " help " ....... if I'm bothering to make an actual visit to a store vs shopping online .... I know exactly what I want ..... I've already researched the shit out of it .... the only help I need is usually ...." hey can you get me a cord "

and a no questions asked .... 45 day trial on anything you want to buy

that's why I'll keep going there

I looked up inflation for month of May...... yeah didn't catch that was 2 years ago......


But if you take a look at April numbers inflation is lower than Bidens April and the April before that and the April before that as you can see from the charts below.........

It just isn't what it used to be and well with online now it just makes less and less sense especially with 0% interest rates and no credit check in some places nevermind they send you the gear before even fully paying for it like Zzounds :dunno:



GC doesn't even have layaway..... why the hell would anyone shop there again vs online like SweetWater, Zzounds or AMS etc etc.

I remember using layaway. The old "put down $50 so that they don't sell it to anyone else" trick. That's how I bought my first Tobias bass. I snagged it as soon as I saw it. People were standing there waiting for me to put it down.

I still have that bass, too. It's in shambles and needs put back together. It's a Toby Pro that was made in Japan just before Gibson bought Tobias and ruined the Toby Pro line. It has the Tobias neck profile, and not the Epiphone neck.

but last time I saw/heard layaway used was on one of these .....
