Would you boost an Ampeg Vh140c?

Personally, I think the amp can be played with or without a boost.

But, for thrash stuff I think it is better with a boost.

Yeah, for me it's a joy to play straight it but I also love sculpting the tone with a boost.

Depends on the tone you're going for - in the case of anything fast, like thrash metal? Yeah absolutely.

For sludgy old school death metal stuff you may not need the low end sculpting, but it definitely adds some versatility to a 140C with an extra gain stage in front.
