Ever since I saw Ghost live, the RDs, really grew on me. What's yee say on the import Hagstrom Fantomen? Not sure I dig $799 for Chinese, nor do I like the chrome knobs or gaudy tuners, but I could see upgrading a used one?

With some tweaks it could be okay. The shape doesn't upset me whatsoever - in fact I like it. I'd like to know how it plays and feels before saying anything on it however. But if someone could make a guitar like this with good tone woods, stays in tune, good setup/action, nice fretwork, and good electronics, I'd have zero issue with taking one for a spin. I dig.

I've yet to read a bad thing about them. Pretty stellar reviews. But, I see AMS has an LE Edition white Firebird for $100 more. Not sure I've heard of 496T pickups. I know of 496R/500T, but not a 496T... The only thing I don't like is that long ass headstock!

I like both. I love firebirds but the other one looks nice as well.

I'd go firebird over RD everyday, but maybe that's just me.

I'm kinda foaming at the mouth at the Studio Firebird for $899!

Yes..... yes I would rock it.

The Hagstrom? $799 Chinese doesn't do it for me. Maybe $599, it might be more sexy.

I didn’t mean I liked the price, just the shape. The price on it needs to be in line with the 599 area mentioned. Still a decent take on the rd theme

I really admire them making a different shaped guitar, trying something different that’s something other than an LP, Tele or Strat shaped guitar. I’ve tried to go that route before, but in reality I guess I’m just a super Strat/Soloist type style lover (don’t care for LP or Tele style). So it’s not my thing, but it’s cool, I get it and I would love to venture out.

I think it's pretty cool... I wouldn't mine having one to add to my h̶o̶a̶r̶d̶ collection. Not sure if I would play out with it though. I picture that shape guitar more with alternative bands or something of that nature... but what do I know. I'm still stuck in 1988

Didn’t like them when I saw them in an ad. Changed my mind when I saw one in person. They are pretty huge. Agree on the chrome knobs. Unfortunately I didn’t have the time to play it.

No... It looks like something that grew from an egg that was double fertilized by step-brothers.

i prefer my hyperion but i would rock that for sure.
I prefer the Hyperion shape for an RD type as well. Actually prefer it TO the RD. This one... not so much. Don't hate it per se but not for me.

Ya know, I think I insulted you about those Hyperions, and said "fugly", BUT, those are growing on me as well. I've been watching Fluffs videos and his take. I DO love the fact that the deluxe's have top notch hardware. I like my locking tuners and Tonepros bridge/tailpiece. Just dont like the headstock, but the Hagstrom headstock is big and ugly. I'm nit-picky! For that, I've crossed the Hagstrom off the list, and don't like that it's thinner than an SG, (1-1/4", I believe). I'd at least prefer Explorer thickness. I don't like light either, but Fluff's review of the Hagstrom claimed it was over 8lbs. I do like that. Under 8 and closer to 7 is too light, unless it's a V.

I played one (sunburst), and they feel very well made, and comfortable in my lap. Sounded pretty good too. Not a fan of the knobs either, but that's easy enough to fix, as are the tuners. Fit and finish on it was very nice. The one I played felt better than Epiphone, nearly on par with a PRS SE. No complaints about it at all though. I'd probably grab one for $600 new given the opportunity...and the cash!
