Would you vintage stock Marshall or something like a Metroplex?

I sold a ‘68 100W Plexi in absolute new condition to my cousin in 1989 for $1200 thinking I’d just won the lottery?
Makes me sick to think about it.
He still has it and never plays it, but of course he won’t sell it…

In 1997 before I got heavily into biasing, building or modding I bought a 1970 or 71 50 watt NMV Marshall expecting glorious Schenker tones. It was the cleanest sounding Marshall I ever heard, it functioned fine. I then bought a THD hotplate so I could turn it up...still it would not distort much. It was the biggest disappointment ampwise I ever had. I sold it for what I paid, of course the vintage market was no where near what it has turned into the last 5-10 years. I never pulled the chassis to have a look around either, I don't know why I didn't....I was so let down I just wanted to see the thing go...............:cry: I don't even remember what I paid as I have blocked my disappointment from memory.

My 72 Marshall 50 watter had tons more distortion in total stock form. Even though both of my 68 and 69 build sounds awesome I would still love to play an actual 68 plexi just once.................:rock:
