"When you're on stage in front of a hundred thousand people, and I'm trying to front the band, and you've got all these cameras on you and big screens, and the camera would go to George [Lynch, DOKKEN guitarist] during a solo, and I'd look over and there's no George on stage. Where's George? I hear him playing, but he wasn't on stage, because he was standing behind his Marshall amplifiers doing coke."

im confused, why not just wait till the song is over then go behind the marshalls and get nice??

self destruction.

Dokken was good back in the day, and the could have been big(ger) if not for their own self-inflicted demise.

IMO

i read this interview and went straight to you tube looking for M.O.R 88 bootlegs. i've seen all the metallica footage that is out there. there isn't anywhere near as much dokken footage. kinda tells you something. even the bootleg guys were over them by 88.

It was a disaster when the "Dream Warriors" single came out. The tour manager said George wasn't happy until Freddy Krueger would come on stage and serve him four metal fingernails full of coke (called a Mr. Scary Bitch Slap) during the song......

I love Lynch. On of the GOTO guitarists. In my view he earned the right to play sitting on the toilet if he wants to.

amphetamines > blow

coffee > both (especially once you're over 35yrs old!)
I'm starting to believe this. Coke is an uncomfortable high sometimes, amphetamines are intense but relaxing at the same time, but ya Coffee is where it's at, sometimes I get more energy from a couple cups of coffee than I do with some coke.

I think he made a huge jump in his playing in Lynch Mob and his solo album sacred groove

Yep . Coffee it is only . It’s so good for my life lol

Funny (yet tragic) story...was roady-ing for a buddy back in the early 90's...his band opening for a big Chicago/National band at the Thirsty Whale ..as I was breaking down gear this guy is already bleeding out his nose and is covertly carrying more more coke in a towel and he's hooverin up more...needless to say he didn't make it much further down the road of life...tragedy cuz he was good...was actually on one of Mike Varney's shred guitar records years before.

George gives his side of the story in the latest issue of Rock Candy but he admits he was drugged out and liquored up on the MOR tour due to dealing with Don

George is like a great actor. He never forgets his lines.
