George gives his side of the story in the latest issue of Rock Candy but he admits he was drugged out and liquored up on the MOR tour due to dealing with Don
Anyway you slice it, perhaps George should be talking to nose candy magazine instead. For those not in the know, that is the hard core equivalent of high times magazine.

Sure, blame Don.
Here’s what he says

I think he made a huge jump in his playing in Lynch Mob and his solo album sacred groove
totally agree. First Lynch Mob album was the pinnacle for Lynch, was playing out of his mind. Maybe it was the coke? :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Yeah DD was known for being a colossal douche back then.
First I was way into Dokken from the get go up until it went up in flames.

However through the years I think it's easy to say they were both pretty much buttheads. George and Jeff were out of their mind on blow, Don wasn't. I know a guy who used to work for Live Nation (before it was called Live Nation) as a booker, and had to deal with Dokken quite alot and he said blow was obviously abundant with bands back in the day but George and Jeff were on another level. Dealing with that is enough to fray anyone's nerves.

I also think Don never really got over the fact, regardless of what he says that he had to put the guitar down in Dokken per George. Don never looked completely comfortable on stage (at least to me) as most front men. And I'd say by the end of the whole push pull process Don probably resented the fact that "he" was the one that got the record deal yet he's having to share everything equally. It's also clear you had two factions writing music - Don and then Jeff and George. So when Don finally had the chance he torpedoed them, and in the end himself as well with the record deal. Wouldn't have mattered though, those guys were done as a band by that point.

Further George has gone through players like endorsement deals in Lynch Mob. Where as comparatively Don's versions of Dokken have been at least somewhat stable. Even Mick, stayed with Don for years and he and George were basically best friends.

In the end it basically came down to two guys who where completely different in every way and their ego's could no longer deal with it.

If you have seen anything recent, it's pretty obvious that Don is the cool one and George is a massive douchenozzle who can't get over himself.

At least now

Maybe it was different back in the 80s

Either way, Dons voice is what makes Dokken, not Georges guitar playing IMO

I would never trust the recollections of a heavy drug user. Funny he used the word narcissist towards Don, because the few Junkies or drunks I’ve known, will rationalize any of their indiscretions, any betrayal they commit, towards their own need or “survival”. Maybe Don was tired of the drugs and felt it would kill the band (taking him with it) and was looking to escape it and go his own way? Being that Don was a pretty good guitar player he might have done alright. Chicken or the egg? Did the drugs to cope with being left behind, planned to leave them behind because of the drugs. Anyway, was never actually a fan but they do have a couple of songs I quite like.

"When you're on stage in front of a hundred thousand people, and I'm trying to front the band, and you've got all these cameras on you and big screens, and the camera would go to George [Lynch, DOKKEN guitarist] during a solo, and I'd look over and there's no George on stage. Where's George? I hear him playing, but he wasn't on stage, because he was standing behind his Marshall amplifiers doing coke."

im confused, why not just wait till the song is over then go behind the marshalls and get nice??
Bro, when it’s snowing, and particularly if it’s hit blizzard conditions, there is no stopping it. It’s an all consuming hunger and berserker madness that demands total compliance at all times.

I myself, have participated in a few snow storms. Of course, I was under the influence of the real gateway drug, alcohol. I remember the first time I tried it. My friend said, “bro, my brother flew this in on a biplane from Columbia! It’s pure cocaine!” The twinkle in his eyes was unsettling. I remember thinking that it sounded like a good idea to try some blow.

They chopped up a massive line for me and I blasted off. Within a minute, I decided that I most definitely hated blow. I looked around, a bunch of dudes jabbering about nonsense telling one another what good bros they all are. I felt a revolting sense of happiness/euphoria within, recognizing its artificial nature, i immediately became outraged. Yet, when it came time to do another line, I gleefully participated. Within minutes my outrage blossomed into full blown self hatred. I decided I had to over power the blow with vodka which I hate and never drink. I was visiting friends in San Diego that weekend and woke up in a field off of a highway. I had zero idea where I was. So, this is what blow is all about, I must immediately do this again!

As insane as it is, I did it a couple more times. The results were similar minus waking up in a foreign land unable to comprehend my location or situation. The third time I did it, I remember laying in bed at 4am monitoring my heart, which had adopted an unnatural beat that was quite alarming. So, this is how I shall die, laying in bed in god damned San Diego having a crack stroke (my friend thought it a good idea to cook up some rocks of crack cocaine so we wildly huffed crack, and man, there is some chemical change that takes place in crack, that when ingested, awakens some sort primordial madness, unnatural urges occur that I’d never even considered, your mind is taken to places, whoa…..) or coke Induced heart attack. My parents will be so proud. I never touched it again.

If lynch already had a line in him, and if he had some alcohol as well, he would have been helpless in the face of such a mighty foe. Captain coke demanded his total compliance and he acquiesced. Dokken is probably bitter that Lymch is still remembered as a legend of guitar and is still often spoken if today. Dokken probably wants to be remembered so tells these stories regardless of the repercussions on others. Wanker.
