WTF is up with Mesa Boogie

It's a shame about the big up-charges because I would be all over ordering a new Boogie cab with tolex color and the grill cloth I want but it becomes astronomical. Then I see with Mojo or Avatar I can order cab virtually as good with a myriad of colors and grill cloths, and choice of speakers for less money so Boogie misses out.

+1 on their customer service. I've always had a good experience talking to them or needing help.

I many bash them on their prices, but I'm still a boogie fanboy.

Bogner up-charges for different colors as well (way too much).

Soldano DOES NOT charge extra for various colors or patterns!

I would hope not as an SLO is $4150 new anyway. Maybe they should charge extra to get an effects loop fix.

  mean ole Soldano for making such an expensive and flawed amp....

I for one, have actually been at the Mesa facility where they fixed my junk for dirt cheap, and while I waited gave me a tour of the whole manufacturing facility. They are good in my book.

I've had A+ experiences with Mesa support. I will say that. They say they'll call you back and they do.
Same here. Each time I have called them they have been very helpful, and very good to deal with. They are very good to deal with.

Funny what people complain about, especially on this board. My customer service experience with MB has always been good. Plus, the upcharge on custom tolex/grill for my Mark V:25 was $179. Same for the matching 2x12 vertical. I don't think that's crazy.

Perhaps it's just due to the fact that they have to retrain the workers if the tolex color changes ?

I've worked with them twice in the past and both times have been pleasant on my end. I asked a ton of very tedious questions and period specific manufacturing questions. Answered everything Johnny on the spot and were great over the phone. As for the cost in tolex difference...... if someones out there is willing to pay for... why not offer it? It's obvious that they've sold a more than a few with custom tolex or they probably wouldn't even bother offering it.

Carvin charges $45 for custom tolex.

Try selling that Carvin.

You won't be selling that cocoa etc Boogie for nearly what you paid anytime soon either....

I played my MKV tonight. I'm glad I didn't get rid of it. I love Randall Smith.
Thing has some multidimensional tone.

Anyhow I'm thinking of calling up Mesa to get a wicker grille for my 2x12 and my MKV head
I'm not kidding either.

G'damn Sonnnn!!!!!!!

The extra admin and process for custom work can be significant
I would doubt a company with the integrity Boogie has are trying to fleece the end user

^^^^ this. thank you.

More Like "Handwired in the USA" Doesn't mean some parts are not from China like populated boards, and footswitches. Smarvo Electronics has their hands in allot more than you might know about. Would be hard to get almost 4K for an amp if some things were made public.
Eexxxactly..... Some people don't pay very close attention to the fine print of some of the small pieces in some of these high end amps. Some do.

Me as well. And yes, if people are willing to buy, why not sell? It is America after all...
