There's a thread over on TGP where people are hanging on this guy's balls like he's the guitar-playing Messiah. And it's all about how awesome this new amp is. They're all commenting on how great the "tone" is and how mind-blowing the guy's skills are. Am I missing something here? Skip ahead for some "overdriven" sounds...

I don't know who he is. I'm just saying that vid sounds pretty awful to me. Did you listen to the whole vid? The part where he starts pushing the amp sounds like the thing is about to melt down or malfunctioning or something. I'm not commenting on the playing, just the "tone."

I think the mic was clipping or something because the Overdrive tones sounded like shit, but I think it was the mic. Cleans and mid gain sounded cool, but it just sounded like some guy messing around, nothing special IMHO.

I kinda liked it. Some parts I liked more than others, but it was interesting playing, and he did get a lot of different tones out of that thing. Chimey to jazzy cleans, mild od to fuzz tones. Didn't really expect that out of a fryette. My cl will rip your face off, but it doesn't even have a clean channel, lol

TGP likes it because it's jazz influenced along with a Jeff Beck type whammy bar technique.
Didn't like the overdriven tone at all, the guy can obviously play. The clean part was great.

I have seen videos here that have not sounded too good, but a lot of people will chime in with how killer it sounds, because they don't want to hurt their feelings.
I know one thing, if some one posted one of my videos up on a different forum with a topic like this, I would say what an immature move that is.

I don't know how anyone can say this sounds "awful". No it's not a modded Marshall and the guy isn't playing some Dokken tune. Just because they jizz themselves over it at TGP doesn't mean it has to get bashed here. The guy can play and the tone is good. And we've heard plenty of $4000 amp clips sound like shit here. Sheesh.

I'm not talking about the guy's playing. He's way better than me anyway. But I don't understand how people think that tone sounds pleasing. The clean stuff is okay. But that overdriven stuff...

And I don't listen to Dokken or 80s stuff so I have no horse in that race

I'm not bashing the guy ability, but why post a vid of noodling as apposed to some cohesive ideas, there's a difference between improvising & noodling.
