Xbox 360 = huge piece of shit

I have 2 Xbox 360s and never any problems. My friend had the red rings of death and sent it in and got it back within a week. They took good care of him.

Mine just suddenly decided to work again.

I'm still sending it in, I know it's just going to keep fucking up.

EDIT: PGR4 is badass.

They are overheating, it warps the motherboard and chips start not making contact. So if you cool it down more it might help, but yeah send it back.

YEah they are jet engines, it sucks. I hate noise.

Anyone know if they actually fixed this issue with newer ones? It's funny how mysterious they are about it. You'd think they'd have made it VERY public that it was resolved, especially after all the money they've lost, but I never saw anything about it.

I've never been a fan of PC games, plus my computer sucks. It's way too expensive to keep upgrading a computer IMO. I do wish I had a great PC so I could play Crysis when it comes out. That game looks amazing.

With the absurd prices of consoles today, and the ever shrinking prices of computers, I think that "too expensive" argument is rapidly losing ground. You can get a whole computer that'd be a hell of a lot faster than mine for the price of a 360 Elite.

I have no idea what your computer is, but chances are, a new $100 video card would have it running anything.

This is all that is needed to prevent probably 90% of the issues people are having. Also, you just can't shove it into a small tight space.

I've heard that they fixed the problem, but who knows if they truly did or not.

I have a $400 Dell computer. The only game I'd have any interest in is Crysis, and my computer is nowhere close to being able to run that game.

I've heard about those things causing a lot of problems too. They just add more heat and get melted onto the system.

These design flaws are a huge reason (that and I'm really interested in the PS3 exclusives and don't really give a fuck about Halo) why I went for the PS3.

I don't know why anyone would give their money to a company who don't seem to give a fuck about fixing massive design flaws. If this was any other company a 30%+ failure rate would put them into bankruptcy and rightfully so.

And yes, even the newest 360s are coming back with RRODs.

I don't know who's telling you that? How can it add heat when it pulls air out of the system? I've been using it ever since it got the system.

I don't think they're selling as well as they had been, likely because of the issues. People bought them, and THEN they broke. It's not like everyone collectively saw that they were broken, and then went out to buy one.

Microsoft is fixing them, and it has already cost them a billion dollars, so it's not like they're just trying to blow it off. What do they have to spend to qualify as "giving a fuck?"

You might ask your precious Sony why they aren't bankrupt. The PS2 didn't exactly fair too well.

And where did you see that the new ones have the same issue?

After all the talk of the XBox 360's overheating the guy has his on the carpet, lol...

Also, my old roommate's launch PS2 started having laser problems about 20-ish months after purchase. :( My slim PS2 is still running like a champ though, going on 2 years and a couple months.

Oh, whoops.. Looked like part of the Xbox on my monitor, I flipped over to graphics mode (higher brightness) and now I see it.

This is true, as Xbox 360s are running a rough 104-115 degrees around the CPU and GPU traditionally when you are playing an actual 360 game. Some games make it run hotter than others. I modded my 360 by switching out the OEM fan for a faster/quieter one which dropped the temp down to about 95, then I added a fan directly over the GPU and one of the CPUs heatsinks which then dropped it to about 87 degrees. Then I bought a Nyko Intercooler that dropped it to 78-80 degrees. These temps are read directly off the GPU and CPU heatsinks, I have a Temp LCD on the back of my 360 that reads the temps. Also controls the replacement OEM fan and add-on fan. I always run the fans at 75-85% of max speed, so it is loud (because of the add-on fan), but it does perform faster and I am not worried about any problems. It is a 360 Elite BTW, which have upgraded heatsinks and motherboards. Also the bigger HDD. I think there is an additional heatsink for the CPUs as well.

PS3 is going to have some kickass exclusives, that is without a doubt, but so is 360. I agree though, fuck Halo, good game yes, but not even close to Gears of War. GoW is the fucking shit and is the BEST 360 game, and definately on my top 10 of all time games. GoW 2 is going to pwn souls, along with Unreal Tournament 3. IMO they are going to domiante Halo 3 in every aspect, but most people would let "Master Chief" stick his sticky balls down their throats and nade launcher up their ass becase they are obsessed with it. It doesn't even take any skill, because whoever shoots first, wins. GoW takes skill, strategy, AND communication between team members to pull off a strong match win, and a good assembly of teamwork. Halo 3 doesn't got shit compared to GoW.

Uhhhhhh... The PS2 has sold more systems than ANY OTHER CONSOLE AND HANDHELD in the entire world. It has sold more than the NES and SNES combined. The only other console that comes close to it is the PSX. The only handheld that comes close to it in terms of sales is the Gameboy, and that's including the Gameboy Color in the sales figures.

Not only that but Sony is making more money off the ps2 each progressive year. Titles still come out for it (God of War and God of War 2 are huge money makers) and they have no research or development money funnelling into it.

The PS3 success will eventually be determined but exclusive titles and whether blu-ray wins the HD battle.

That nice and all, but it doesn't have much to do with how an ass fuck of them broke, which is what I was talking about.

Pretty much. Blu-Ray, Price, Marketing, and their willingness to help with developers will be what decides. The new $399 PS3 will be released very soon so keep an eye out for that. Blu-Ray seems to be coming out further ahead as well. Sony, Panasonic, Dell, Apple, Samsung, Sharp, Hitachi, LG, and Philips are supporting Blu-Ray, where as Microsoft and Toshiba are supporting HD-DVD with HP supporting both.
