Sounds great!!! For a split second I didnt realize the beginning was the actual song and thought Holy Shit this is perfect... Your tones are really good!!!
Are all three the same? The Feel Your Love tone is really close!!!

They are all three different, but kinda close, you're right. I used isolated guitar tracks to pull each - ended up with at least one off of each album - trying to get a really good definitive 'VH collection' of profiles. Not sure if I'll mess with EVH tone after the DLR years though, things changed and not for the better. Just my opinion.

This is going to open a few eyes/ears. :D

Sounds great!

Yeah, you might want to go back and edit the original post so that folks know the first part is EVH.

Great job!

Thanks! I put the info on the soundcloud page where each clip resides, figured that would get read, but I can always put it on the first post too.

Thanks Steve!

The Kemper doesn't have it built in, but you can use computer plugins to match an EQ curve. Where a lot of people go wrong when they try to do this is they don't get an amp that sounds close to begin with or a miked tone that is close either... the further away you are from it to begin with, the less effective it is.

I used a Splawn Quick Rod into a '72 Marshall cab for these, and different combinations of 5 different microphones. Each time I ran a profile, I messed with the mics and placement to get as close as I could, then stole an EQ curve off the original isolated guitar track, applied that to the tone I was getting, then profiled with that EQ inline with the microphone(s).

After that, then I had to try to get a roughly equivalent reverb sound - I could have gotten these a LOT closer if I used effects in my DAW/recording program on the guitar track I recorded, but I wanted to keep it 100% Kemper. If I was going for a closer tone, on the VH I stuff I would have panned the guitar track hard left, put some reverb on it, then in the DAW sent the signal to a track hard panned right with a lot more reverb.

Started getting more into 'tone matching' with my Kemper... all of these are right off the kemper, could have gotten them closer in the DAW but this is with no external fx. Everything is the Kemper, including the reverb. I know it's not 100% (nothing can be, I don't play like Eddie and I'm not sure if my voicings are always correct) but still not bad. I'm doing a few from each album, should be interesting when I'm done.

Sounds incredibly good, especially DTNA. How do you do this? And... of course, I must have these profiles! :D

C'mon, cough 'em up!

Seriously, great stuff man! I could have a lot of fun with these. I'm very impressed with what you've done with the Kemper! Every profile of yours I've tried has been great!

sounds great!
will u share these eventually?

wait are you creating these from your amps or are you taking EVH's original guitar tracks and running them into the kemper to create the profile? I'm confused I thought you could't do that on the Kemper

These and some more I'm still working on will be on my website eventually. I'm also going to have effects on each profile too so you can kick in a Phase 90, and a volume boost for leads, etc. So it won't just be the core amp tones, there will be some stuff with it supporting some VH sounding effects too. The Flanger is going to be hard as hell, because I haven't heard ANY digital box do a good MXR flanger tone... the Kemper, the Axe FX, any of them.

I created them using one of my amps that sounds very 'VH' out of the box (Splawn Quick Rod... I made a profile with it the day I got it, went to a gig, played through it and everyone in my band remarked how it sounded like VH before I could say a word.)

The amp gets close, then I used different combinations of microphones and placement for each profile, and used EVH's original guitar tracks to get the EQ right. You can do that on the Kemper, you just need extra software that does EQ matching and a DAW to run the software inline with the mic during profiling. It works well once it's set up but it's kinda a pain in the ass to get everything right. I've done it before and come close, I spent most of the weekend messing with it and I think I've gotten most of my bugs worked out.

Sounds great Pete!! You need to come profile the SL68!

Darrell, if you come over here, I can already have my setup ready for maximum profileage. And show you how these things really work... I'm getting so much better results than when you were over last time.

Pete,

As soon as "the other amp" gets here, we will do just that! See you in a week or so.

Awesome!

sounds great man, especially that VHII tone (that's my fave VH tone). Very impressive - you guys are definitely giving me Kemper GAS!

Starting to get really close! bit more sparkle on the top end for Panama and you are in business! sounds great already though.
