I don't like his ego, tone, or his music tbh, but he can play fast.

Speed is only one ingredient though. I find he lacks in the others.

I like his tone.... plenty of string zing and his personality coming through the strings

People dog him because "he only plays fast" lolol...that tells me they haven't taken the time to really listen to any of his catalog. He has one of the best vibratos in the business..period. And, yes he can play slow and ALWAYS plays with great feeling, IMO. He is/was an arrogant dude but the arrogant players in this business are a dime a dozen. Tone wise he uses the first version T75 which sounds about as far away from the T75 most have heard as a GB versus an EV. Totally different speaker and sounds like a brighter G12 65. Very fat middy speaker. Very hard to find nowadays.
One could easily argue he influenced as many players as EVH. Not sure I'd agree but when all the speed/string skipping masters call out YJM as their main influence, you have to take notice.

Here is a cool Yngwie story well at least to me.....Last year I brought one of my amps to be fixed at the local Sam Ash....They had a amazing tech there who also serviced Yngwie's amps.....So after we went over the issues with my amp he said do you want to see something cool and of course I said yes....He told me Yngwie just dropped of a pallet of amp heads to be serviced.....so I took some pics and even touched them hoping to get better but that didn't work(lol)

That's very cool! A few reissues in there, he probably keeps the 72s at home and goes on the road with the RI stuff...

Found another article on Yngwie. Here he claims he saved Fender

"They had been struggling a bit, then my 'Rising Force' album came out and not only did the album turn everything upside but what's on the cover? A Fender Strat.

That fucking album saved their company! They said that when that album came out, they couldn't build guitars fast enough; before that, they were selling nothing. So they came to me."

A little bit of egocentrism? Maybe?
