You got compressor?

I been looking at some comps. I had a Keeley Compressor plus but I didn't like it at all so I sold it. It was noisy and about the time I dialed it subtle enough to not be obvious compression it wasn't doing much of anything at all, lol. I been eyeballing the Cali 76 deluxe, the Warm Audio pedal76, and the Diamond. Any experiences you could share on comps?

Not even sure if it's worth my while to try it again but I thought it might knock the top off some of the more intense transients and gimme a little extra sustain while still preserving dynamics which I didn't find the Keeley was capable of doing....
 
I've got an old Craftsman oilless compressor, but I'm not sure that's what you're looking for.

You can always be a badass and TOTALLY go over to the darkside and get an old DBX rack unit, like the 166XL. Then, your transformation will be complete.
 
I have two compressors worth a look:

1) TC Electronics Nova Dynamics
2) Boss CP-1X

I use the Boss more

I don't really got space in the bluesmobile for rack gear, lol.

Thanks but number 1 is digital. No digital gear is going in my chain, it always sounds like digital ass when I'm cranked with gain. Number 2 is a Boss product and the two Boss products I've owned shit the bed without much use so I am biased against Boss products.

I've had a few pedals with DSP elements, a flange, a reverb, and a delay, and artifacts always become apparent in the higher registers to the point where I just won't consider using digital gear in my chain. Analog or bust. I want fat n smooth tone.

I've got the Bogner Lyndhurst .......... it's great .... hard to go wrong having a transformer designed by Rupert Neve in it

I have a Wampler Ego comp pedal that is pretty cool.
I like the fact that it has a blend control and a tone control, so you can squish things pretty hard and then blend back some clean signal, and the tone control can help offset that darkening effect that can happen when you start to shave off the transient attack.
You can get some pretty good squish and almost not really hear it, if you know what I mean.
 
Ive been thru a few and for me the original Carl Martin Compressor/Limiter with the attached 120v power cord is the one. You can literally dial it in so you can’t tell it’s on all the way up to total squash. It’s very forgiving with high output pickups because it’s got the knobs to handle it. Sleeper and cheap these days.

My porter cable pancake is awesome…. My wampler ego is sweet when I play cleans once a month…lol
 
I only started using a compressor pedal a few years back when I started playing more clean in a cover band. I didn't use one for a million years before.

Gotta say that I really like it now that I'm used to it. I had the newer'ish Keely, a Dyna Comp, and a Wampler EGO full size and a mini one. The Wampler retains a big low end and is just killer to me. The Keely and Dyna Comp sucked the life out of the tone.

I've used the Wampler EGO on bass too and it doesn't color the tone in a bad way at all. That's my vote!
 
I have a Cali76 compact deluxe. It's the best pedal compressor I've used. Doesn't attenuate the highs and exaggerate lows like a lot of other compressors can, and it's very fast so it minimizes the pumping effect you hear in a lot of other compressor pedals. It's just a great all around transparent sounding compressor that's less "effecty" sounding and more just like a standard studio sounding compressor.

I heard @griff10672 makes some pretty badass pedals....

I have actually been really wanting his version of a 4 knob compressor or the like.

Does he make it? No, not yet at least....
