The stork really pulled a zinger on the parents of these hard rock triplets known as The Steam. This atonal freight train cut their dark musical teeth by lip sycing to whatever tunes graced the Walmart speakers as mom attempted to steal tube tops and beer every weekend.
The group reminisced- “Lots of Neil Sedaka, Clean up on aisle 2, and You have the right to remain silent...loved that song!”
Guitarist Mel Nebraska weaves dizzying lines on his Fisher Price My First Rocker. “It’s an extremely cheap Chinese toy capable of four notes and constantly challenges my creativity.” When the batteries die he pulls them out one at a time and whips them at the audience, which does not exist. Sister Anna Jeff Allen handles lead vocal chores by pretending to sing into her num chucks. Her voice is not happening. Rounding out the sparse fiasco is younger brother Lou. Born unable to speak, this 47 year old’s contribution is fashion, serving as the stylist for the group and striking inappropriate poses on stage while his siblings pretend to hold down the melodic heartbeat. The Steam is a literal nightmare. And they wouldn’t have it any other way because they just don’t know any better.
