Your best idea of a 0-60 tone....

By that I mean who do you like that plays with relatively low gain rhythm tone and then punches in with pretty high gain leads and does it well
For me it's always been Neil Giraldo. Already a criminally underrated player to me he does that so well.

HmMmm... I just picked up Fortress, by Alter Bridge and there's some pretty damn cool playing on that album with a lot of feel. Tremonti's solo album is pretty stellar, too.

Andy Wood's knewer album has a really cool dynamic as a whole, and there's a few tracks that seem to nail what you describe. I like how you put that... 0-60.

I really like bands that pull the sonic rug out from under you. I think Opeth has been nailing that for me more than anyone else lately. Or in recent years, for that matter.

Great suggestions. I've always looked over Tremonti and will check out his solo stuff. I seem to be in a small minority that can't stand Myles Kennedys voice so I never got into Alter Bridge. I know very little about Andy Wood but from the clips I've heard I really need to look into his stuff.

And he absolutely blew me the hell away with his dynamic feel and monstrous intensity. Just unreal. Wish I could find it. But you likely already know what I'm talking about.

Neil Giraldo is freaking awesome, hugely underrated. A tasty player for sure. Some of those solos of his are as memorable as the classic songs themselves.

There is a Brazilian youtube guy Andre Nieri. He's sponsored by Bogner and has a ton of videos demoing there stuff. Just amazing touch and feel, whether it's a clean tone, distorted or in betweener. I don't know if he has a solo record out, but I would buy that in a second.
