As someone who grew up knowing him from Smoky and the Bandit, I dug in and learned more about him when he died and I heard about some of his guitar work. Talk about impressed. There's more than one video where he makes Chet Atkins look weak on guitar - and that's no small feat.David_kessler":8fkrms2g said:IndyWS6":8fkrms2g said:Jerry Reed (RIP)...
Good call, can't believe he hasn't been mentioned earlier.
I was just about to post this. Seriously under-appreciated player.CaseyCor":3a3tresd said:Mikael Akerfeldt is one of my favorite players. Opeth is a big band these days, but I don't ever see him hyped as a great player by non-fans.

More "unnoticed" than "unpopular", but:
Keith Scott (Bryan Adams)
Dean DeLeo (STP)
Eric Schenkman (Spin Doctors) AWESOME chops.
Brett Garsed
Misha did all the composition, tosin wrote the riffs and the solos. Its an amazing record. Misha isnt involved with the new one, so i am curious to hear what it sounds likeashesofphoenix":2v2q22an said:ejecta":2v2q22an said:Shatter_The_Silence":2v2q22an said:TOSIN ABASI!!!!

Joe Haley
he just has such great runs for a guy that doesnt play any solo's in his music
Thanks for posting Tosin's work. I downloaded his CD and love it. Don't know how I haven't heard of this guy.
Again big thanks!
Misha from Periphery actually did his record![]()

Im a huge AB fan, Myles is a really good guitarist, a little more blues style lead than Tremonti. His addition to the guitar playing line-up definately improved the overall sound of the band both live and in the studio... but as far a pure skill, knowledge and chops I gotta say Tremonti IMHO. But I'm glad to see Myles gettin some credit cause he is awesome!!

Don't get me wrong though, I do dig Tremonti's playing, especially his songwriting. His riffs are ridiculous.
Whenever I hear Myles take a solo, it's different to the point where it gets my attention, his style works as a great contrast. A touch more melodic, and he stays away from the wah. lol
I'm going to check them live in May, either in Worcester or NYC.
