And the solos you bothered to try and learn:

Eddie- pretty much all of VHI & II, cradle, Romeo, mean, push, skip diver down, teacher, girl gone bad
Yngwie- hot on your heels intro, all of Alcatraz and some of rising force and marching
EJ-minstriel giggolo solo, Bristol shores, some cliffs and ah via
Gary Moore-corridors/end of the world
schenker-UFO too hot, lights out, doctor doctor
Neal schon-all of escape, mother father and still they ride are INSANE

and I'll listen to holdsworth, lane, gambale, landau, and guth and pick out one lick per album cause they are freaks o nature.
 
My 1st 2 years playing guitar were spent learning to play all the songs/solos on Blizzard of Ozz and Diary of a Madman. After that I just listened to players, didn't learn a lot of solos note for note. Satriani was probably my next biggest influence - really dug Surfing W/ the Alien from a songwriting standpoint.

van halen stuff. hot for teacher, panama, eruption, you know, the cool stuff from VH-I and VH-II.

Gary Moore - i was huge into him and how he put feeling into his playing, i learned alot from controlled bends early on from him. really underrated player.

Ozzy - i went through a pretty serious ozzy stage. still like to jam on it with friends and shoot the shit on an accoustic at parties :rock:

Paul Gilbert RacerX/Mr Big/Godzilla - i was on a huge paul gilbert stage for a long time, roughly 3 years or so - great guy and extremely talented. i love his attitude the he gives 99% of the time

Symphony X - alot of respect for romeo. i guess thats the stage im in right now/merging from.

Firewind/Mystic Prophecy/Nostradamus/Dream Evil/Metalium - basically my playing has evolved into a european progessive metal/power metal influence. im really digging it but im just now getting into the song structure and getting comfortable with the writing style of it. - lots of fun!

its been a very intense learning experience from it all.
 
Ace Frehley......never really learned anything note for note till way later though. Just wanted to appreciate the music I guess. My favorite solo is She

Randy Rhoads.....everything off the first two albums

Uli Roth.....Catch Your Train

Alex Lifeson....lots of stuff off Hemispheres, Permanent Waves and Moving Pictures

Akira Takasaki.....Like Hell awesome stuff!!

Those are the main ones I guess.....

.....I spent a lot of time learning power chords :D I still can't play a solo after 20 years...in fact my ADD/lack of musical ability is so bad that I don't think I know a single tune the whole way through...lord do I suck! :doh:

VH - DLR years...i was so obsessed with Fair Warning & Van Halen I that I would even learn Alex Van Halen drums on my Alesis HR-16 drum unit while 4-tracking/transcribing many of those tunes. hear about it later, Puch Comes to shove and On Fire come to mind.
