Your Most Regrettable Gear Sale/Trade

I think I have my most regrettable sales coming up; I feel more than a bit swamped with nine electrics in the stable but I can´t for the life of me find any obvious candidates for sale. I´ve sold dozens over the years, but all these are totally keepers for various reasons and when I added the last one it was one too much.

Star wars toys trade. I traded my Rankor monster for Squidhead. Worst trade ever. I was 5 years old.

2 Marshall Slash Sig Jubilees. One was Mint & The other had a slight Tolex rip. I sold them cause I wanted something more modern & my Fiancé (now wife) had bought me a Soldano Avenger Hot Rod 100 (100 watt Avenger with an FX Loop) but man do I miss having those 2 heads. I also miss this old 1997 Les Paul Studio, it was black with a rosewood board, Neck pickup disconnected & a EMG 81 in the bridge.....that guitar Sounded like it was touched by the hands of God or Satan. It just sounded SOOOOO Good!!!!! It even sounded better than the LP Standard I owned at the time.

I traded a Blackface Vibrolux reverb for a Peavey Standard head and a 2x15" Peavey cabinet because I wanted a "stack". That was back in 1975 or so. In 1979 or so I sold a 1976 LP Custom for $400. And then there's the countless '70's Marshall heads that I went through that were in the $300 range. Oh, and the $75-$100 Echoplexes.

Bogner 100B serial #55....Soldano Decatone WTF was wrong with me!
Heritage C150 in cherry burst best sounding guitar I have yet to own.......68 Plexi that was junk.

A real '59 Bassman chassis that I got from Dave Shriver (RIP, bassist for Eddie Cochran and Trini Lopez). I had Nate Kramer (Mojotone founder) build me a tweed 4x10 shell for it with original Jensens. That thing smoked every amp in town. Should've never sold it. Idiot.

There, thread edited to keep the discussion on topic :)

Got rid of my PRS Brazilian McCarty Whale Blue with IRW neck and my PRS Whale Blue Singlecut. Those two were the best guitars I ever had.

1978 100wt Marshall Super Lead in Fawn
1965 Fender Bandmaster head

I've had TONS of gear and I really don't get attached to much, but I wish I still had those two pieces. Otherwise I like my current gear.

Well, maybe that old Telecaster. I want that one back......and that old SG.......

I sold my Kramer Nightswan lightning graphic in 1994 for $600 (today they're going for around $1800).

I sold my GMP Firebird in penny copper metalflake for $2500 with the intent to use that money for a SLO. However, my wife got wind of the sale and that money quickly dwindled down to around $800 for a gear purchase.

I'd LOVE to have that guitar back.

Custom order Jackson Randy Rhoads Custom in red metal flake, S/N under 300.

Eh, nine isn't all that many electrics to have around at one time. I'd just hang onto them if you don't need the $. Put three out to grab and play, put three along the wall, and put three in their cases. Rotate the groups of three every few months.

If you have a really good set of guitars that you just can't bring yourself to sell but aren't playing, put them away for a few months. When you bring them back out, it's reconnecting with an old friend.......and if it isn't, then you can sell it at that point. A couple of my old Charvels stayed in their cases in a corner for a couple of years after my last move. I recently took them out and am enjoying them a lot. I would have completely regretted selling any of these.

That is one of the worst feelings in the world. Been there, done that.

Sold a 57' Black Beauty Gibson Les Paul custom Reissue years ago.
I regret till this day.

My Jcm800 2204, 86' model, it was the limited edition original classic or something, with green tolex and checked front. It looked cool and was a magic sounding amp. It was a pretty dumb move to sell that one.
